You get what you pay for here, I guess... probably way less than that honestly lol. First room we rented had a blown out right speaker. After an hour of trying to get in touch w support through their AI chatbot, we were finally relocated to a new room. Speakers worked, but the AC didn’t, and the room was hot and stuffy. Also zero insulation - if someone is practicing in a room next to you, you will hear everything in ultra high fidelity. To top it off, I went to the vending machine to get some drinks because I was thirsty as hell trying to make music in a muggy room, and the vending machine ate my money and didn’t dispense anything!! The scannable QR code for customer service/complaints on the machine took me to an inactive site. You’d be better off lighting your money on fire than renting a studio here. We left after 3 hours instead of staying the whole 7 we booked because we were so over it.
This place is a joke. I live a few blocks away, tried to call them (both number on google and on their website is wrong) and went in person trying to talk to someone and book a rehearsal studio after checking we could rent a cymbals set, but you just face a big door, impossible to ring any bell, no phone number, walk your way and find something else, such a waste of time.
More than a studio, it's a community of people who express their feelings and emotions without a care in the world, not even the weather. Whether it's hot or cold, your studio adapts to your preferences and the time you want it, and everything is secure. My experience has been unique, and I'm sure yours will be too.
This is a staple rehearsal studio as an artist living in LA. It’s been such a helpful experience from band practice, recording new music, or DJing I always recommend pirate it’s truly meant for the artist without damaging pockets and allowing space for creative freedom. If you’ve never been here now is the time!
In general, I’m so happy a place like this exists to have rehearsals. I never have issues booking a room for the day and time I want. The only downfall of this place are the musicians who don’t know how to take care of it. You never know what to expect with the room you picked. Then there’s the parking lot where people park however they want. I’ve been playing here for a while and yesterday when I got to our room, the previous user had dismantled the toms, snare, hid the cymbals behind the guitar amp, and left some garbage. One of the mic cables couldn’t be plugged in because it was bent. Every room I’ve been in has completely dented mics like people are throwing them against the wall. In a previous room I used, the reverb tank was missing from the Deluxe Reverb. If you have any issues, the online team at Pirate has been very responsive, but there isn’t an office or anyone checking you in like at Bedrock. I’m hopeful someone at Pirate is coming in to maintain these things but I don’t know exactly how they operate in the backend. I worry this place will end up degrading like Bedrock due to a lack of care. Please take care of this precious space!
