When we moved to the Vally a while back we were enthralled by this furniture with its awkward name, the Potato Barn. We were finding unique and singular items that no other store in the Phoenix Area had – and believe me, my wife and I hit every store in our desert. The extraordinary values, qualities, workmanships, styles, points of origin, assortments, manufacturers of furniture, vases, lamps, beds, living and dining, and pictures and frames and then some is totally unexpected. We’ve purchased from Potato Barn multiple times over the years, and when we look for additional items, they are the first we go to. Our first purchases from them were over ten years ago, and each item has withstood the test of time both in quality and endurance. One of the fantastic things about Potato Barn is that what is available today, may not be there in a month – they rotate and include new things on a regular basis. When we bought our middle eastern style wood entertainment center, we put a deposit on it, arranged for delivery, made the purchase – and to this day, that piece has never been back to the showroom. We’ve been happy with that and all the other products we’ve purchased. If your in the market for quality and uniqueness this should be your first stop.
Okay, this review is for the Sugarplum Market that took place in this Potato Barn's parking lot off Ray Road in Mesa, Arizona. The market was open Thursday, Friday and Saturday and they were plum full of vendors selling clothing (unfortunately, a lot of what we looked at was made in China), some food items such as fudge, some Christmas tree ornaments, soap. We went on Saturday and we were impressed the number of people there that smelled and looked freshly showered, as to us, this is a factor that makes or breaks our overall shopping experience. Realizing that this may make us snobs. Also, a number of people had children, but they all seemed well behaved in the short amount of time we perused the market. We found a number of interesting items and plan on looking into the vendors of the customizable Christmas ornaments. We may also stop by the fudge vendor's bricks and mortar location in San Tan. If the market takes place next year, we recommend more food vendors and more vendors selling their own handcrafted, made in the USA items. Also, they had port o potties that were kind of obstructed by the vendor tents, so maybe make a clearer path for those as well?

We have always loved this place! This was our first visit to the Mesa location and it’s huge! So many unique finds. 15 years ago we purchased our bedroom set from their original location and the furniture is still going strong today. You cannot go wrong with solid wood products that are high quality. I literally wish we had much bigger rooms in our house. Most of the furniture here is really big! Finding items we love that also fit properly is definitely a challenge. We do wish they were also open on Sunday. Currently they are only open Wednesday through Saturday. But this has been the case for as long as I can remember. Anyway, love the store. We also love that sales people don’t follow you around like prey the entire time. They are around and asked if we had questions then left us alone to wonder and explore.
