I've been taking drumming lessons with the school coming up on 3 years now, and Stephen Marshall has been my teacher the whole way through. I have never experienced a more passionate, more patient, better teacher who makes learning music fun and exciting. In my time with Stephen, I have noticed my skills improve considerably even a few months in, and I've found that my confidence has risen, especially in playing with others. The school holds recitals which give students the opportunity to perform and show off their progress to their families and friends, and I've had the pleasure to play in a band with some of Stephen's other students, which has been incredibly exciting and a huge confidence boost. Moreover, Stephen has just been enormously supportive, and I really admire his teaching style. Whenever I feel intimidated or am having a tough time getting something, by the end of our sessions he's always able to somehow get the best out of me, and it really makes me excited to continue to play even after our sessions are over. He really goes above and beyond, and his passion really rubs off on you. He’s just a great guy (and hilarious) and I continue to look forward to being his student in the future!

I took voice lessons with Steve Marshall for a few weeks. There were a few last-minute cancellations, sometimes just hours before class, which made scheduling a bit difficult. During lessons, I often felt the focus wasn’t fully there — at times he seemed distracted, occasionally checking his phone. While he was friendly, I didn’t find his approach very structured or effective for what I was hoping to work on. In particular, I felt his vocal technique wasn’t strong or consistent enough to clearly demonstrate and explain certain concepts, especially around range development. As a result, I often felt a bit stuck and unsure how to improve. It became frustrating over time, and I didn’t feel I was making real progress. Maybe others have had a different experience, but this was mine. Just wanted to share in case it helps someone else make a decision.

Steve has been teaching my now 7 year old left handed child the drums for 2 years. He's able to keep him engaged and foster his creativity with not just the drums but now the piano. Not only do I highly recommend Resound because of the convenience of the teachers coming to you, but I also highly recommend Steve if he is able to teach the instrument you're looking for.

Absolutely fantastic place to learn music. My son and I both have music lessons with Stephen Marshall for over 5+ years now. My son plays the drums while I play both electric guitar and electric bass. Stephen has definitely pushed both of us out of comfort zone and expanded our musical capabilities. Stephen is more than a teacher as I consider him to be a great friend to both of us. Thank you Resound School of Music and more importantly, thank you Stephen!

Our son has been learning guitar at Resound. He has made so much progress, from hardly strumming a note, to playing and singing confidently in front of an audience, and it's all thanks to his teacher. For the last 4 years Stephen Marshall has been a fantastic teacher. He is very knowledgeable and caring. You can tell Stephen always goes above and beyond for his students. We are thankful for having Stephen as a music teacher and mentor, and we are grateful to Resound for helping us find him.
