I had a light dinner here after getting off the train from Montreal to Quebec City. The restaurant is quite close to both the train station and our hotel. We arrived about 1.5 hours before closing time, so some dishes on the menu were no longer available. We ordered the fish and chips (the restaurant’s best seller) and the steak salad. The salad was not very special to me, but the fish and chips were really good. The restaurant is small and cozy. The staff and chef are nice and relaxed. I really like the atmosphere here.
Lovely place to have an authentic fish and chips lunch. Many options to choose from in the city but I’m certain none would compare to the welcome and hospitality we received upon arrival and throughout our entire lunch Thomas was lovely attentive authentic and super friendly without overdoing it We both had the fish and chips and shared the carrot soup. If we had known it would be so delicious we would have had a soup each and had shared the fish and chips The fish is giant and the fries are so yummy. Definitely shareable unless you’re super hungry. The only regret I have is not asking for the recipe for that soup before we left😞
Awesome new spot in Québec City! My steak & fries were great with the fries cooked to perfection. The accompanying salad could do with a more interesting dressing. Service was wonderful, our server Thomas was amazing and accomodating after we asked to move inside. My mother asked for no onions but unfortunately still recieved onions on her steak salad. Atmosphere was nice with a good view of the surrounding streets but the interior could do with some better lighting. Overall, a very nice spot that I would recommend!
I was in Quebec City for the UCI Grand Prix de Cycling and after the race started I was looking for lunch near the train station. I Searched for restaurants and this place has excellent reviews. Among the restaurants in this street this place also had the most customers sitting on the tables outside at the time so I took that as a good sign. Thomas was my server and he is also one the owners. He was great in explaining changes to the menu and making recommendations. I ordered the fish and chips and it was hot and fresh. I also enjoyed the coleslaw that came with it. The food and the service were both excellent. There is nothing like an owner rolling up his sleeves and making sure the customers are served well. It's too bad mussels are out of season but I appreciate a restaurant that serves what is fresh and in season. I live in Vancouver but now I suppose I will have to consider returning to Le Renversant when mussels are in season!
Honestly, this place was amazing. The food was next-level (the brie fondue especially) and Thomas, our waiter, couldn’t have been nicer. I even asked for a breakfast dish at lunchtime and the chef (who was also very nice) happily made it. We’re visiting from London and were really impressed with how affordable it was too. Overall, 10/10 - would definitely come back!
