cute little gym. it is small, but you can see before going in how small it is. they use their space efficiently to maximize climbing which is nice. theyre open 24/7 which is nice if you work a weird schedule. setting can get a bit inconsistent from time to time. love these types of small gyms to cater to people in the neighbourhood
Best gym on the East end of Toronto. Friendly staff members, 24/7 access if you become a member at an affordable price. Resets happen every two weeks which is nice because some gyms in downtown nowadays keep the same climbs for three months so this is definitely a breath of fresh air. It may be a small gym but there is a lot of cabinets and hangers to place your things. Extra bonus points for having the Kilterboard installed last year, best decision ever. Also, it’s a dog-friendly gym so if you’re a regular, you’ll see a lot of furry babies running around. Extra extra bonus are the settings here are hard for its grade. V2-3s can become very technical which is very nice if you want to become a stronger climber!!
Best climbing gym in Toronto! I switched over from another larger gym because this gym has nicer set-up and the community here is phenomenal. I started as a beginner here with day passes, but ended up getting a membership and climb regularly now - largely just due to the gym being less crowded as larger gyms and the community of climbers here being incredibly supportive and helpful. Definitely a great place to try if you're new to climbing, but also plenty of challenging climbs for the experienced.
Great small gym with dozens of interesting routes for all levels. Staff are friendly and helpful. As a beginner I appreciate being given space to explore, and I can ask for tips when I’m stuck. I was nervous at first about being the oldest person there (60+) but the gym’s young “regulars” are unfailingly encouraging and respectful. Very friendly vibe!
Ok, first off the cell phone mounts on the wall that you can use to record your climbs... GENIUS! Why more gyms don't do this I don't know but I love it. The gym is small, but in that small space they pack in a good mix of climbing styles and routes. This is bouldering only, but you'll still get a decent workout here regardless. Now for the not so hot points; it's a small gym and a lot of the current routes at the time of this review didn't feel like a challenge to me. I'm not an expert, but I am tall and I was able to literally reach for the last hold on most of the routes. Granted not a big issue, but the routes that were marked as hard certainly held up to that rating. At the end of the day I felt like it was a good workout, but was also left wanting more. If you're a new climber or you're looking to get your fingers chalky check this gym out! That being said, if you're a seasoned gripper you may want to do a day pass here and possibly try another gym if you don't feel challenged. I really hope Rock On sticks around, this city needs more gyms and there's certainty a lot of promise here. I'm Looking forward to coming back again.
