Nice venue with comfortable seats. There is enough leg room for most people to pass without the need to stand up. Towards the end of the show, it became really hot in the theater. Better a/c was needed. There are a lot of parking garages close by. The ones I saw were $20.
I have come to the center for performing arts since I was a child and now I bring mine. The staff is wonderful and helpful. The lines for concessions get long very quickly. But the prices are perfect. This is a very good location and there doesn't seem to be a bad viewing seat in the house. The seats are still uncomfortable and sit low. The rows are narrow, making access to your seat a little difficult. Especially if there are people seated already. If there are rude people that come late or try to leave in the middle of the show it can be challenging with the minimal legroom in the rows. I've been to a few different shows with different types of audience, and Theater etiquette has seemed to have gone out the window. The last show we attended was Kinky boots. The attendees seem to have no class. They are talking, not silencing their phones, getting up in the middle of the show to walk out, arriving late and crossing in front of people during the show. It would be greatly appreciated if the ushers refused access to people who arrived late a show has begun. People were still being seated after the show had begun. the crossing over in front of you to get to your seat is very disruptive to the audience and the actors. The lights in the aisles from the ushers is also very disruptive. Another star would be given if they could somehow bring etiquette back to the theater.
The theater itself is good but bar service is the worst I've seen. There are very few bars so drink lines take forever (40 minutes), I missed the first part of the show because of this. When I finally got to the front of the line I was told the sodas were not chilled as they didn't have enough fridge space. The bar staff then proceeded to pour a coke into a plastic cup and struggled to get the lid on, spraying me with coke in the process. They grabbed a new one and finished the process, I've never seen anyone take this long to sell one coke. No wonder the lines are long.
Visited this classic again and can share it has kept its charm and aged very well. Acoustics are marvelous, lighting was good, and getting in and out was pleasant. My latest visit was to see Sam Harris. I think the photo illustrates well that every seat in the house is a good seat. While this show was a one person talk I’ve also been here for elaborate stage productions including musicals and opera with similar appreciation for the quality and acoustics. Staff were very friendly and bathrooms were in good shape too.
The theater is beautiful, spacious, with comfortable seats and no obstructions. The staff is friendly and cheerful, although occasionally give an inaccurate seat location directions. The on-call booth is outside, easily accessible, and has a ramp too. Memorabilia for each show is offered in the front lobby. Two concessions stands offer a few drinks options, that in order to keep it logistically simple, eliminate any glamour, using plastic cups. Would be nice to have a phone booth customized for each show and an outdoor (and/or indoor) lounge with up leveled refreshments.
