It has been 25 years since I had a pizza so bad that I ate one slice and tossed it in the bin. This evening I ordered a 14-inch Meat lovers to be delivered by Doordash. This was the driest and most tasteless pizza I have had in decades. Pizza base- cardboard. Sauce? Applied with a plant mister. That nice cheese shown on their website? No. This was a sprinkling of bagged grocery shredded cheese (and very little of it.) Clearly they are animal lovers as I have more meat in my veggie omelette than was applied to this circle of despair. Also, delivered cold and broken, but that’s on the kid riding his bike and pretending to be a delivery service. There are great pizza places in Tampa - this isn’t one of them.
Pretty close to NY style pizza. Definitely got the vibe down. Extremely limited parking lot especially at peak hours. Super busy sometimes so inside seating is sometimes not available but worth the wait in line. Outside patio. No frills but trendy. Not great service. Looks like a bunch of apathetic college students work there but don’t need much interaction with them as it’s counter service, then you take your food & seat yourself wherever you find a spot. Would absolutely return for a quick bite. Good value.
Looking for bread and butter New York City style pizza? Well, ya found it. A 7.8 for Portnoy himself and earned every bit of it. Old school style feel with pies coming out hot, fresh and delicious. Pizza itself has solid flavor, fluffy crust that aged well over the experience, paired with a tangy tomato sauce, hearty motz and toppings (pepperoni) were simple. Buffalo chicken would be the next choice to try. Service was quick, order to table delivery in ~15 mins was the sweet spot. Recommend dining in for full experience, one of the better classic pies in Tampa!
Santoro’s Pizza in Tampa is absolutely worth checking out. The pizza is incredible—one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The crust, toppings, and overall flavor hit that perfect balance that makes you want to come back for more. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you’re getting, which makes it even better. The service is pretty solid too—friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The environment itself is decent, but I’ll admit it feels a little tight on space. It’s not my go-to spot for dining in just because of that, but for takeout or delivery it’s hard to beat. Overall, Santoro’s delivers amazing pizza at a great value, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone in Tampa who’s craving a quality pie
After ordering and waiting over 30 minutes to get my order, I got: The crust on the pizza was so tough/hard, not doughy at all I couldn’t eat it. My guess is that they overcooked it. The pizza tasted okay. The garlic knots were a bit burnt on top as well and tough. The cheese in the mozzarella sticks wasn’t hot enough to pull at all. The marinara sauce they give you tasted fresh and the butter sauce for the knots was good. Disappointed.
