I have always wanted to work with an interior designer and when the opportunity arose I began my search. My husband and I retired 13 years ago to a lovely home on a golf course in San Antonio. We needed a fresh look to three living spaces in our home. We went to the internet with one prerequisite: that the designer lived and worked in the San Antonio area. Shades of Gray Design Studio popped up in my first search and as I read Melissa Fields’ bio, I was intrigued that she was a retired Naval Officer now in a career of interior design. To me that meant good organizational skills, promptness, a leader - all those things required of a military officer besides being passionate about creating beautiful spaces. I also noted that she was active in the community of interior designers giving workshops and involved in seminars and trade shows. I contacted her and the rest is history. Working with Melissa was a joy because of her ability to listen and understand what we were trying to achieve. When the day came to “reveal” her ideas (amazing digital presentation in her design studio), we realized she had taken our simple ideas to a whole new level and we were delighted with the plan. Today, we are enjoying our new spaces and look back over the whole experience as being very positive. The contractors she used were professional and artisans in their fields, having great respect for Melissa. We highly recommend to anyone wanting to work with a true professional with loads of energy and ideas (and a dose of all the attributes of a good Naval Officer) to consider Shades of Gray Design Studio and Melissa Fields. Melissa was amazing to work with! She made everything so easy for everyone and communication was great! The floors turned out amazing and made the home look like new. I will definitely keep working with her and will recommend to all my family and friends!
I hired Shades of Gray in 2020 to help me with remodeling a house I've just bought. Melissa Fields, the owner, is a professional designer who changed the boring standard interior completely. We divided the project into three phases, one phase per year, that's why it took so long. But My bathrooms, laundry room, kitchen, dining place, and living room are unique and beautiful now. Hiring Shades of Gray Design Studio was the best decision that I have ever made!! My bland house was truly turned into a home and I am so thankful and grateful to have found her! For those in search of a designing their home, make sure that your interior designer cares about creating your space as much as you do! Have communication. Communication is key! Lastly, make sure that your interior designer cares about designing your space as much as you do! Mrs. Fields is very Professional, Very Organized, her Communication is outnumbered and she finishes in a timely manner! I 100 percent would recommend Shades of Gray Design Studio to anyone! I have learned a few tips from Melissa Fields on what to expect in the designing process. She has the best tips, and her team is the best!
