The Middle Eastern pastries are very good. We've bought them several times, and the quality is always consistent. Since I often go to Morocco, I can tell you that the Zlabia are identical to the ones there. As for the other pastries, being French, I'm not a big fan, but that's just my personal taste. The pastries are beautiful and very well presented.

It’s hard to find excellently prepared baklava these days, but this bakery (shipping straight from Dearborn) is well worth it. Shatila Bakery is a Michigan staple. Their baklava is exceptional: crisp, delicate layers of filo, perfectly spiced nuts, and a syrup that’s flavorful without being overly sweet. I usually get one tin, but I find myself ordering more to share with family and friends. 😄
I grew up in Michigan, and my mother would take a weekly trip to Dearborn to pick up Middle Eastern foods and treats. Now that we live in Charlotte, North Carolina for over 6 years, those flavors always bring back warm memories. No place in NC comes close to Shatila! A friend of my mother-in-law recently sent us a gift from Dearborn with two different sweets (pictured in my review). While my family enjoyed them, I found myself wishing she had sent the baklava with pistachios—the kind I fell in love with after years of my mom bringing it home from Shatila Bakery. That baklava was unforgettable: delicate, fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, so different from the prepackaged treats we received. You must go to Dearborn and experience this bakery! Freshest, crunchiest, tastiest and perfectly balanced sweetness of dessert you can ever find outside Lebanon. My favorites are: The Baklawa with pistachios and with nuts, fried Katayef with walnuts and with qachtah, Barazeh, ice cream, freshly made unsweetened juices especially the pomegranate juice, Turkish coffee prepared for each order and last but not least the shredded halawat jiben. My least favorite is: The kinefeh which I prefer and highly recommend to eat it at Lebon sweet. Because Shatila doe not keep it hot and reheat it in microwave. I will not eat a reheated Kinefeh in a microwave. Then The flavor and quality decrease drastically.
