The ArtWay Studio en Vancouver, BC ofrece clases de arte abiertas y acogedoras dirigidas por Denna y Sonya para todos los niveles. I started out as a complete beginner, have since finished a few pieces and am very proud of my progress! Denna is an awesome teacher, not only in teaching us techniques but in building our confidence, wherever we are in our creative journeys. When I first started, I felt unsure because of my lack of art experience. Denna always reminds us not to be too precious with our work. It's not like it's the last project we'll ever do! I feel safe to play around and experiment, knowing Denna will come to the rescue if needed with a good white-washing XD I found the class critiques to be very helpful in seeing how I can elevate my work but also in how my classmates have expressed the same ideas in their own creative ways. Oh and my classmates are super fun and funny! Looking forward to the next round of classes in January :)

I joined the Sunday class with Denna for a year. Her classes are so inspiring, creative and fun! Her way of teaching encourages us to develop our own painting style. At the same time I learned a lot about colours, composition and art techniques in a fun way. Love denna and other creative people in the class💕

I have been enjoying classes at the Artway for years now and I feel so grateful that I can get a creative fix, learn new things, and be part of a safe warm welcoming community each week. Denna is an excellent teacher who strikes the balance of providing freedom/space for our own creativity while also providing structure and foundational understanding about what makes art beautiful and interesting. Denna is authentic, hilarious, real, and genuinely warm, kind and caring. I have met so many lovely people over the years in her classes, and feel proud of many of the works I’ve created too!

I have been going to ArtWay classes with Sonya since 2013. Sonya is incredibly knowledgeable and creative in terms of mixed media. She's also a lot of fun and the classes are a true joy! Even her Zoom classes are fun and just as productive as in-person classes. Sonya has a gift of working with people of all experience levels and styles so that everyone feels good about what they're creating. When I started with Sonya, I had no painting experience. Now, I sell my own paintings and commissions. But I still keep going to Sonya's classes because they are so wonderful! (the photo is one of the mixed media projects from Sonya's class)

I’ve been attending the ArtWay since 2014 - over the last 7 years I’ve been a regular at Sonya’s Wednesday night class - in person, and, during the pandemic over zoom. Sonya is a wonderful art teacher - she pushes you to learn and grow as you create new pieces - in turn this learning usually translates to life! Since attending her class I’ve made countless pieces family, friends and my own home - I even did an art show! I recommend this class to all artists new and old (in experience and age!).
