Spent my 25th birthday here and had such a lovely time. The staff are genuinely welcoming and make you feel really comfortable, which set the tone for the whole night. The cocktails were amazing. The drinks took a little longer than expected to arrive, but we were checked on regularly and still really enjoyed them. The food looked beautiful and the presentation was spot on. Personally, I found the rosemary a bit overpowering by the end, but everything was still nicely done and clearly made with care. Overall, I absolutely loved spending my birthday here. Thank you to the team for making it feel special. 🎉🍸
The restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere lends itself to that beautiful vibe. The staff were impeccable and my cocktails were delicious. If you're South African though,you should know that the food is not impeccable by our standards. It's a bit bland. There was one dish that was delicious and it was the spicy prawns starter but the cookie dough with ice cream dessert was the star of the show. II had the kebab and we can get better back home. Overall a lovely experience but wouldn't be paying ZAR/Rands on that experience again.
It was very dark. Deafeningly noisy. We pre-booked but still waited nearly an hour for our food. I had the chicken snitzel which was very dry and hard to swallow, my sweet potato chips were burned but the slaw was fantastic, pity there was so little of it. Others in the party had wrong food brought out but ate it because we were starving. The prices were extortionate and they add a 10% service charge on top. Beautiful looking place but not worth it. We had horrible piped music when there was supposed to have been entertainment. We wouldn't go again because of the prices and quality of the food, but lots of other people have had a great time there and rave about it. I can only speak as I found it.
*Overall good meal and atmosphere, small improvement to service and food needed to get 5 stars* Food: Overall nice quality and well cooked. Steak was cooked nicely but served luke warm. Service: Good overall, staff were attentive and polite. Ordered a drink that didnt get served, the last botanical drink ordered was just crushed ice with a hint of the actual drink. Enjoyed meal overall and would return, however the experience didn’t quite feel premium enough for the price point.
Great spot downtown Cardiff. Went there with my family for dinner and it was great. The atmosphere is pretty cool. It is, well… full of plants everywhere, it IS the Botanist! I think a lot of the plants are fake in some of the hangers, but nice design and effect nonetheless. The menu was good, had good choices for pick eaters, as well as nice options for more adventuresome diners. We had one of the mixed skewer dishes and it was great. Also had the fish and chips and the chicken burger. The chicken burger was quite interesting with bacon added as well as a mac and cheese fritter in the burger. Service was good, not spectacular, a little green, but good enough. They were friendly and doing their best so that was still good to cover up some conversational blemishes. Bathrooms are a little lacking, broken off toilet paper holders etc, need a little TLC to get them into better shape. The location is great if you are in the downtown area. It is in the heart of the nightlife with a lot of pubs and restaurants in the area. Felt safe at night and was busy with good energy. A great place and I would recommend it for a family dinner, romantic evening out, or to meet some friends in the bar for a drink.
