I booked my first heels class for January 14th at 6:00 pm. A couple of hours before the class, I received a text notifying me that it had been moved to 8:00 pm. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend at the new time, especially given the very short notice. I reached out right away and, after some back-and-forth, was told I would receive a refund. It has now been four days, and I still haven’t received it. I’ve followed up twice since then and haven’t gotten a response. Extremely unprofessional behaviour. Poor communication, no accountability, and taking money without following through on a promised refund is unacceptable. I would not recommend this business. -Natalie

I use to take classes before Covid at the downtown location. They made me feel AMAZING!! Those were 3 of my best years. I loved everything about it. I tried to go back after Covid. After several phone attempts I went down in person. Sarah was lucky at the studio at that time and told me they were switching locations and the classes I loved were still available and she would get ahold of me. Not hearing back for several months I tried emailing and calling. I NEVER got a response. So I physically went down to the new location and inquired again on the classes. I was told they didnt have it going YET. So I had to ask if they had any other classes that were similar that I could try. They recommend 1 that I took right away. It was NOTHING like the classes I fell in love with. I was told the other class would be starting soon. Again, never hearing back I tried email and voicemail AGAIN for anyone to please contact me. Im STILL waiting for any type of acknowledgement. I've been following them for years with nothing but great things to say and they can't even be bothered to give me a response. Down right rude!! Shitty way to run a business and now unfortunately I only have bad things to say about Dance Code

I joined The Code specifically because it claimed to be friendly for adults without experience. After my first class, I was essentially high on the wonderful experience. The instructor went step by step and made sure we kept up. I was SO HAPPY to have found a place to learn to dance!!!! BUT the next two classes with different YOUNG instructors were AWFUL. The instructors were advanced dancers but didn’t know how to teach to adults without experience no experience. It was like having phd’s in quantum physics teaching basic math to first graders. I felt ASHAMED and FRUSTRATED because the instructors went so fast. The owner reached out to me, to her credit, but nothing changed and I felt like she thought I was being difficult. I can’t explain how disappointed I was because of how much I love dancing and had gotten SO EXCITED to find a safe place to learn.

Updated review: I have done been a member of Dance Code off and on for around 5 years. I have recommended to friends, family and classmates yet I have decided to change studios. I have a busy life. Do other sports, am a student, married, have step kids, work part time, etc. I see dance as kind of a stress relief and exercise that doesn't feel like exercise. I know I'm not the most coordinated/athletic person or the best at choreography. I still thought The Code was a safe place for me and others who just wanted to have a place to relax even if they weren't advanced dancers or the most coordinated. That was until one day the owner (Sarah) pointed out my lack of skills in front of other girls in a class (she didn't even have the dignity to pull me aside) which was frankly inappropriate and unprofessional. She also told me she and the other instructors were discussing me (good to know I'm being shit on behind my back). I started crying in front of everyone, she didn't apologize then or later. So yeah I'll take that as my sign apparently I'm not "talented" enough for her studio. There are other adult programs I'll look into joining come this fall. Its unfortunate as there is many talented and lovely instructors that have taught there over the years but to me a dance studio is suppose to be a fun space to take stress away and to me The Code is not that anymore. So something to keep in mind if you aren't the moat coordinated or a beginner dancer. And I've overlooked scheduling changes, classes starting late, etc over the years cause I saw it as a positive place and Sarah and the instructors as humans that aren't always perfect. But outright bullying behavior in front of a class of other girls isn't cool. Original review if anyone wants to see how my opinion has changed: I didn’t dance growing up. I always wanted to. I started following dance code on Instagram but was too intimidated to go in for about a year. I finally came in and talked to someone at the front desk and she reassured me it was all good I had no experience and was very friendly. That was 3.5 years ago. I’ve been going to classes ever since. Dance code is one of my happy places. I have a membership and come a couple times a week. The instructors are talented af and lovely. So if you are on the fence about trying classes here come try it out. They also have more advanced classes for people who have danced for years growing up that I can’t really speak on. I also do their codettes performance based program and that’s fun.

Este es uno de los estudios de baile más comentados y visitados de Edmonton. Con una amplia gama de clases sueltas, una gran variedad de estilos de baile y una vibra que irradia inclusión, es fácil entender por qué. Probamos la clase Burlesque Boom que es básicamente una clase de cardio estilo bootcamp con elementos de burlesque sexy entrelazados, y también nos colamos para una pequeña muestra de la Beginner Heels class, que es exactamente lo que suena: una clase de baile en tacones — ya está. Ambas fueron muy divertidas, desafiantes y sudamos bastante, aunque nos hubiera gustado ver un poco más de Burlesque en la BB class. Le restamos media estrella por la ubicación y por las opciones de precio limitadas, pero nos encantó todo lo demás y definitivamente volveríamos por más.
