Ubicado en 500 W 5th St, en el centro de Winston-Salem, The Downtown Grille es un restaurante de alta cocina y destino de bistec y mariscos. Chef Harrison has put together a quiet little gem in downtown Winston Salem. I travel extensively (most recently dining at Ocean Prime in Tampa) and would put the menu, food prep and atmosphere of the Downtown Grille up against any restaurant in the Southeast. John the Manager and our waiter Dillon were fantastic. The bread service was the first hint we were in for a real treat. It only got better with each progressive menu selection. Well worth the 30 minute drive from Greensboro. Nothing in Greensboro can compare. Top shelf establishment.
The chicken Marsala with Joyce Farms chicken is the reason to go there! Best pasta I've ever had. The chef knows his stuff for sure and we are thankful for his skills. We will continue to go back for their overwhelming portions for the price, The Downtown Grille is unmatched.
Atmosphere was great! Super clean and well spaced. Lighting was good and noise level was perfect for a romantic evening. Food was well spaced and gave plenty of time for digestion and conversation. All protein items appeared to be locally sourced which i HIGHLY support! We ordered the shrimp and squid ink pasta for appetizer, pum’kin cocktail for drink, burger and butternut squash pasta for entrées, and the apple crisp for desert. All items were cooked appropriately and came with excellent presentation and plenty of flavors. Biggest knock for me was the fact that the burger was too salty (really strange for a burger) and the fries though beautiful didn’t hit the mark. Also both pastas tried just a little too hard to be different to the point of being just a tad off for our tastes. Despite these minor complaints we received more than enough portions and left pretty darn satisfied. Thank you!
We had a bunch of small plates (scallops, shishito peppers, crab dip, and octopus) and they were all great. The bread that came with the crab dip was a bit hard but that was the only minor problem. The service was excellent.
We had an incredible dining experience at the Downtown Grille in Winston. The steak was cooked to perfection, the fish special was absolutely delightful, and the scallops were a fantastic choice for sharing. The desserts were simply amazing and the drinks were expertly crafted to perfection. Our waiter's impressive knowledge of the menu added to the overall enjoyment. The Downtown Grille truly is a hidden gem, offering world-class service and a culinary experience that is second to none in Winston. The burst of flavor in every single dish is extraordinary - compliments to the chef and his staff!! We will certainly be back with friends!!
