I booked The Full Bliss Immersion at Dragon Tree Day Spa with very high expectations given the description and $445 price point. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of what was advertised. While the treatment is listed as approximately 3.5 hours, a significant portion of that time was not actual treatment. There was an initial 35-minute break, followed by another 15-minute break later in the session. When you remove that downtime, the true hands-on treatment was closer to 2 hours, plus a 20-minute foot bath. For a premium, immersive experience, this felt like a major waste of time and value. Several of the core elements were also underwhelming or malfunctioning. The swedana (steam tent) was kinda warm, and but the machine turned off halfway through, so it never reached the therapeutic heat that’s essential to this treatment. The shirodhara, which should be deeply meditative, was anything but relaxing due to constant loud noise—sounded like movers or heavy activity walking around the building the entire time. The spa attempted to compensate by turning up a noise machine, but since they couldn’t change the music, it only made things louder and more distracting rather than calming. The foot bath itself was fine, but they had run out of honey, so one of the signature sensory elements listed on the menu wasn’t even available. Overall, this experience did not deliver what was promised in either quality or duration. The concept of the treatment is beautiful, but the execution was lacking, and for the price, I expected far more attention to detail, functionality, and atmosphere. I left feeling disappointed rather than blissed out
A wonderful experience from start to finish! Mackenzie was my massage therapist and she was incredible.. she was so intuitive and found the root of each knot. She used the perfect pressure and somehow struck a balance between relaxing and relieving. I’ve had a ton of massages and can honestly say this was one of/if not the best. After my massage I did the herbal pain relief foot soak. Anni was warm, kind and attentive. Whole experience was a 10/10 and I’d return if visiting again. Go to haven afterwards for a cardamom latte!
I had a wonderful massage at the Dragontree. Unfortunately the woman (red hair) who gave me my foot bath after made reference *getting me out of there* repeatedly maybe halfway or closer to the end of my foot bath, not sure. I wasn’t staring at the clock, why should I, aren’t we meant to forget about time at a spa and relax? It felt personal after a while.(???) Not sure why she felt the need to keep reiterating that?? I had no intention of overstaying my $37 foot bath. Very strange, also the fact that I was the only African American person in the establishment that I could see, that treatment certainly didn't make me feel any more welcome. I do wonder if she would've said the same had I not been a person of color. It didn't sit well with me at all. My first visit here was wonderful, this time, with the exception of the massage, not so much. If I ever visit again (not sure, that treatment was so odd), hopefully I won't work with her. It's a shame I get massages often at very nice spas, and have no problem *leaving* and tipping well when they're over. I was hoping to make this place one of my go-tos despite the neighborhood not being nice for hanging out afterwards.
I love, love, love Dragontree - even walking in makes me feel more relaxed. I have had three Swedish massages with Devora and she is really good. I also love the post-massage sauna and shower time. The robes are super nice and the staff are great. It also smells amazing!
I love The Dragontree! I've been going here at least once a year since 2015. It's a very clean, and beautiful space. Every massage therapist I've had has been wonderful. My Husband and I just got massages for our Wedding Anniversary, and Emily was my massage therapist, and she was awesome! She made sure to really work on some knots in my neck/shoulders without causing me extra pain, which I appreciate. This is my fave spa in Portland!
