Climbing at The Hive Heights was an experience that made me feel strong in a way I did not expect. When I first walked in, I noticed the big walls with bright coloured holds and the sound of climbers cheering each other on. I had never climbed much before and it looked a little scary at first, but the staff were really patient and showed me how to start on easier routes before trying the taller ones. The part I liked most was trying a wall I thought was too hard and then actually reaching the top with a new rhythm of moves. It felt like solving a puzzle with my whole body. When I left, my arms were tired but I felt proud and excited to come back again. It made me feel like I could learn something new and get better every time I visited. I would tell anyone who likes a challenge or wants to try something fun that this is a great place to climb and grow.

Wonderful first climbing experience for my 7 year old. Auto belay system is super cool. Staff were AMAZING, and despite my own nerves, they were patient, kind, and very knowledgeable. Very impressed, and grateful for this experience.

So much fun, even if you’re not an experienced climber and completely new to climbing! Employees here are very warm and supportive, and are patient when you’re just learning the basics and getting equipped. I didn’t catch the name of the employee who assisted my boyfriend and I when we visited, but she had a friendly personality, was very understanding with us when we were trying to find the right shoe size, and overall was so kind and easy to talk to!! I feel very grateful to have had such a lovely person guide us through the process, and she instructed us well. I felt completely safe and informed when the introduction was done, and didn’t encounter any safety issues when climbing independently on the auto-belays. Big thanks to her, I wish I had caught her name as I would’ve credited her here!! If you see this, we were the pair at 1-3pm on March 22nd- thank you for your help!!! Hive Heights offers 5-6 routes with auto-belays that one can do entirely independently, and many other routes with non auto-belays for those with a partner/more experienced. Additionally, there’s a spray wall/bouldering section upstairs, accessible by stairs. Washrooms here were well-kept, a water fountain is present in a corner close to the ropes, and there is ample storage space for your shoes, coats and belongings. Routes are labeled with numbered difficulty levels, ranging from 5.6 to 10.0+. The auto-belays are easy to spot, as they feature a bright yellow labeling. Because the routes are roped, I found the climbing to be quite accommodating, as you can progress at your own pace and slowly move your way upwards if you’re feeling a little nervous. Once you’ve made your way to the top, you can just lean back and let the auto-belay drift you down which is fun! Nobody forces you to go all the way up if you don’t want to, and I didn’t feel any pressure to do things I didn’t want! Remember to book online though, and sign the waiver- that’ll make the check-in process quick and easy, and if you need equipment, a nice climbing package of rental shoes, harness and belay is provided and available to purchase. :) The building itself isn’t super accessible by transit, as if you take the route I did from Main Street Station, you’ll have to take a 10-15 minute walk, but I promise you it’s well worth the brief stretch! Thank you for providing a welcoming space for roped rock climbing! As a beginner I was a little wary at first, but after going I’d love to visit again someday. :) My boyfriend and I had a great time together, so it’s super fun to go with a friend, family member, or a date!

I had my first-ever visit to The Hive Heights, and it was absolutely amazing! As a beginner, I was a bit nervous, but the experience turned out to be so much fun. A big part of that was thanks to Lily, who was incredibly friendly, patient, and professional. She made sure I felt comfortable and confident every step of the way, giving clear instructions and cheering me on as I learned the ropes—literally! The facility itself is fantastic, with well-maintained climbing walls and a welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for beginners and experienced climbers alike. I left feeling accomplished and excited to come back for more.

My daughter's best friend family brought us! It was so amazing. My daughter was a little scared at first. But we feel safe because she is wearing a seat belt, and it's getting more and more fun. Here is the best place for kids!
