Always overpriced and sadly they sell a number of items glorifying Confederate generals who fought for the right to violently tear families apart and keep human beings as slaves. Disappointing. My family can’t in good conscience keep shopping here.
Unfortunately had a horrible experience this past Saturday. It was our first time shopping here. Upon checking out (which a young teenage girl was at the register) she asked if either of the items we were buying were Christmas presents and if we wanted them gift wrapped. One was, a pair of earrings, so I said gift wrapping would be great for that pair! She had us move over to the other side of the checkout counter to wait. She was great! Then, a middle aged woman was loudly complaining how we were "taking advantage" of the gift wrapping... I assume she was meaning this as we didn't buy a large amount of gifts or spend enough money and only needed a pair of earrings wrapped and she was annoyed that she had to do it. There wasn't a line at the time, I didn't ask for it, I was offered it and took them up on wrapping it, which I feel like many would have done. I have no idea if she intended for me to hear it, but she definitely was not speaking in a discreet manner. She then bluntly said "a pair of earrings" as she was handing me the wrapped bag. We then turned around to leave, and before we got to the back exit, she had scurried past us and was mubling something else under her breath. I worked in retail for many years of my young adult life and I know the holidays are a trying time, and I understand having a bad day, but this is no way to treat a paying customer. My husband and I sat in the car for a few minutes and truly debated returning our purchase as we felt like the money we spent wasn't good enough. We won't be returning.
Absolutely love this place! I've shopped here for years but our experience yesterday was worth sharing. I took my mom out for her first shopping trip post a major surgery. It was the first pretty spring day so everyone was out and the store was packed. Despite the crowds, the owner treated us like we were the only people in the store. Never frazzled, going out of her way to help us find items that we were looking for and making calls to other locations to track down a shirt that my mom wanted. The service that we had yesterday will keep us coming back for years to come! Kudos to you all and thank you!
My FAVORITE little shop in Richmond! I can always find the perfect little gift for Christmas, trinket for a friends or a fabulous pair of earrings when I need to get something for myself!!!! My only complaint is they would grow the size of their sales floor!
