Great restaurant! Wonderful bar. Every dish was delicious. Our server was friendly snd attentive. This is one of the best restaurants in the East Bay.
I don't know where to start. The place was packed and didn't have any room and they made a spot for me. The service was amazing. Everybody was friendly even the other customers around me, would recommend this place to everyone. The spanish octopus was phenomenal. Brussels sprouts were perfect and the tomatoes took me home. Thank you so much for the experience and the food.
Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Standout was the naan appetizer with baba ganoush and feta. It was outstanding! I’d go back just to have that again. Nice place for a birthday lunch.
Disappointing First Visit to Wolf on Piedmont Ave This was my first time dining at Wolf on Piedmont Avenue, and unfortunately, it was not a good experience. We arrived before 5 PM and were given a limited menu that offered very few food options—mostly just drinks. After 5 PM, the server brought a new menu, but surprisingly, it didn’t offer much more. The selection was still quite limited and not very appealing. The service was also frustrating. While I appreciate attentive staff, our server checked on us far too often, which felt intrusive and disruptive. It seemed like they were rushing us through the meal. Even before we had finished our food and drinks, the server asked multiple times if they could clear the dishes, which was both annoying and uncomfortable. When the food finally came, it was a big letdown. The quality just wasn’t there—nothing stood out in terms of taste or presentation. For the price and reputation, I expected something much better. Overall, I was really disappointed with the entire experience—poor food quality, pushy service, and a limited menu. I had hoped for a nice evening out, but sadly, I won’t be returning.
I recently had dinner at The Wolf on Piedmont Avenue, with my aunt and cousins - it had been a long time since we all had the chance to meet up, so it was definitely a celebratory dinner of sorts 🤎. The restaurant definitely strikes a good balance between upscale and approachable/relaxed dining. The décor is a very elegant, elevated California style and it was a busy but intimate ambiance. The food was ALL delicious. We started off with the oysters on half shell 🦪, house made buttered naan bread 🫓 & a beautifully composed cheddar and black pepper popover. The short rib sugo rigatoni, which I had for my entree was cooked perfectly; it was tender short rib, and a beautifully subtly flavourful sherry porcini sauce. The cocktails we had were all well-balanced and creative - I recommend the Kiss from a Rose. Overall the service was good and our server was attentive for most of the evening, although there were two big tables and we were told that the kitchen was super busy and our food would take longer than usual. This certainly didn’t take from (or ruin) the experience - but it is something to consider if you’re in a rush or are tight on time. It’s not pushing culinary boundaries per se, but if you’re looking for a reliable, elevated neighborhood spot for a date night or small celebration, The Wolf delivers. I’d definitely go back again to try more of the menu.
