Haven't been to the new/current store since they moved from the Bank St. location, but the mini cupcakes are amazing. Grab a dozen to share at parties or at work. They're convenient and everyone loves them! Bonus point for being nut-free.
We had a couple of cupcakes, Holiday Party Pants and Chocolate Orange. We had the Homemade Hot Cocoa and the London Fog. The cupcakes were great, very moist and tasty. The cocoa was also very good. We found the London Fog's brand of tea a bit bitter, but otherwise it was good. The person that served us was friendly and efficient. Bring cash for tips as their POS machine doesn't give that option.
I honestly LOVE this place. The cupcakes are top notch, the icing is unlike any other vegan/gf I’ve had in Ottawa, and the service is awesome. The ice-cream is PHENOMENAL (but expensive— still, I always go back for more). The only thing, from my experience, making the rating a 4/5 is the (big) cake I once bought. It looked BEAUTIFUL; full rosettes, different shades of pink, a joy to look at. The cake to icing ratio however, was really off. I had to scrape tons of icing for the cake to be edible, because the icing is also super sweet. This left a tiny cake at the centre and was difficult to distribute. Besides that, I recommend this place and really encourage the owners. I believe I’ve tried every option available that is both vegan and gluten free. Congrats on the recent move!
After many "not so good" cake tasting we were overjoyed when we found Thimble Cakes for our wedding. The cake was fluffy, "moist" and perfectly sweet. We chose the "cookie dough" cake and I still dream about it 6 months later. They offer gluten free and vegan options which are amazing. Communication was easy via email or phone and they executed my requests perfectly. I ultimately went with a very simple design but its exactly what I wanted. I definitely will be stopping by the bakery very soon to help with these cookie dough cupcake dreams.
Thimble cake is a cute little bakery on bank street. I am gluten free and I had to get a smaller cake for myself for a party. The mini rose cake was perfect. They even gave us a cute little personalized sugar disk. The cake itself was beautiful, very fluffy but was just a tad too sweet for my liking. Other than that I will definitely return and try some of their other desserts!
