We are beyond grateful to everyone at Thrive for getting our boy healthy and back home. Dr. Gallegos, Rey, Alfredo, and Nessi were absolutely incredible throughout a very long and stressful week. The communication was outstanding, they kept us informed every step of the way and made sure we never felt in the dark. Now that he’s home, they’ve continued to be just as supportive, answering every call and question we’ve had with so much patience and care. It’s clear this team genuinely loves what they do and truly cares about the animals and families they serve. We can’t thank them enough for their compassion, expertise, and dedication. Highly, highly recommend.
I was extremely disappointed in the dog care at Thrive. My Vizsla had been seen by a Veterinarian in Key Largo at which time radiographs and blood work was done due to vomiting. She was sent home on antiemetics and probiotics as she wouldn’t eat. The next day I received a call telling me to bring her to THRIVE in Miami for a possible bowel obstruction seen on the X-ray. I should never have left her over night. I never received a phone call about her condition unless I called. The nurse called her by a different name and I had to remind him my dog was there in their ICU. I called the next day and was told the “possible” bowel obstruction seen was gone, but now she has a splenic tumor shown by performing ultrasound. The doctor talked surgery, seeing an oncologist, more days in ICU but never how she was doing. I then told the vet I was 2 hours away and I was coming to get her. After arriving at THRIVE, I waited almost 1 1/2 hours to get her and finally after going to the desk of laughing technicians, I told a competent tech how long I had been waiting and she brought my dog out within 5 minutes. My dog could hardly walk and had lost 3 pounds over night. She still wasn’t eating so they gave me antiemetic pills and Entyce, an appetite stimulant and a liquid med for diarrhea. I drove straight home to Michigan, saw my vet who after reviewing her ultrasound determined my girl has a hemangiosarcoma. Surgery is not indicated and may have ruptured during the procedure THRIVE wanted to perform. My pup received appropriate meds from my vet, and today after one day, my girl is eating, her strength is returning and she is also receiving antibiotics for her anal gland infection that THRIVE called diarrhea. I was told THRIVE would email my dog’s records as well as the bill to me. I received nothing and had to look at my credit card for the bill which was close to $4,000. She was there 24 hours. I have received 3 phone calls from the Key Largo vet concerned about my dog’s condition. THRIVE has never called. I will never bring my animals to THRIVE, nor will I ever refer anyone to them. They are a scam vet hospital and I am fortunate I got my dog out of there alive.
My 13 yo Golden became acutely ill which I thought was an intestinal obstruction from a non-rawhide chew stick. I have used MVS in the past and love that practice, but they didnt have ultrasound tech available that weekend. I knew Thrive did and, though hadnt been there with her before, decided to go with them. To say the Thrive Team and their care was amazing is a massive understatement - within 3 hours, they had done abdominal xray to rule out an obstruction, had her blood work back showing acute pancreatitis/colitis, and had her on IVs, antimetics and pain meds. My sweet pal was literally at deaths door, but with their kindness (thanks Ray!) and intensively "person"alized care, including someone in her room w her 24/7, hand feeding her, and getting her on her paws when her 90 pound didnt want to move, they nursed her back to healthy enough to come home and continue to recover. Gigi is now mostly back to herself - eating, walking and wagging - thanks to Thrive! Some will say "she's old, it's unkind to prolong her life", and Id mostly agree, but I beg to differ in this instance - Im a human doctor and knew she had an acute, treatable condition from which she could (and did!) recover with the intensive care that they and I provided her. Regardless of your philosophy, if you need the best of the best, Thrive in South Miami is an excellent animal hospital. I hope I wont have to but would take here back without a reservation (and Im very picky!)
From the moment Penny was admitted to Thrive for pancreatitis, the level of compassion and expertise shown by the entire staff was truly remarkable. As a worried pet parent, I was stressed and anxious, but every team member was incredibly kind, patient, and supportive - always taking the time to answer my questions and reassure me about Penny’s progress. I greatly appreciated how transparent and informative they were about Penny’s treatments, and that they made it possible for me to visit her each day, which brought so much relief to both of us. Most importantly, the way they cared for Penny - with genuine sweetness and skill - made all the difference in her recovery. I am deeply grateful to Thrive for helping my little girl get well again, and for treating us both with such warmth and care. Thank you, Thrive, for going above and beyond for Penny!
Dr. Huerta, Cynthia, Lydia, and everyone who helped me and my kitty Odile were the most sweetest and amazing team ever. My kitty was not eating at all and was feeling really lethargic. I called and the receptionists who answered were super helpful and told me to come in. I took her to the emergency room and she was hospitalized overnight, the whole team consistently kept me updated and Dr. Huerta was on top of everything that had to be done to stabilize my cat. Yes, the bill was expensive (as expected for an emergency room visit) but my cat left stable and healthy and feeling so much better. I am forever grateful for all their help❤️
