Such an amazing place. The owner and staff are experts on everything vintage and clothing design/construction. It felt like getting a private tour of a museum. Prices are impeccable for the authentic true vintage they have in stock. Such rare and unique pieces. Highly recommend!!
In a world drowning in fast fashion and throwaway culture, it’s the slow, steady hum of intention that makes Union Overall Company feel like a revelation. Tucked humbly on Colley Avenue in Norfolk, Virginia, this unassuming storefront offers far more than curated racks and raw denim. It offers a philosophy—stitched with reverence, anchored in family, and worn with pride. Owned and operated by Brandy Collins and Brian Patrick, Union Overall Company is not a trend-chasing boutique. It is a heritage workshop disguised as a retail space. A living, breathing archive of story, spirit, and second chances. Walk in, and the scent of worn leather mingles with the ghost of industry past. Vintage tools hang on the walls. Repurposed garments whisper from the shelves. It’s not just a store—it’s a space that remembers. Rooted in Norfolk The choice of Norfolk wasn’t a marketing move—it was a moral one. Brandy and Brian didn’t just plant roots here; they unearthed the ones already in the soil. They chose Norfolk because they belong to it—and it belongs to them. A city defined by its working-class backbone, naval legacy, and deep-seated community ties, Norfolk mirrors the very ethos that drives Union Overall: resilience, authenticity, and dignity. This is a business built not for scale, but for meaning. Their inventory tells the tale. Most of the pieces are thoughtfully curated vintage—garments rescued, revived, and reintroduced with care. Jackets with a past. Pants that carry stories. Scraps that become beanies, wallets, or caps—small acts of environmental stewardship that speak volumes. Interspersed are the rare, in-house garments—limited runs, hand-cut and stitched on-site. Always intentional. Never rushed. Family Over Flash There’s a tenderness to how Brandy and Brian operate. You can feel it in the way customers are greeted—more like neighbors than shoppers. You see it in the way they speak of their process, their purpose, and the responsibility they feel to make something good, not just something good-looking. Their zero-waste approach isn’t a gimmick—it’s an ethic. One born from family values that run deeper than denim. Waste nothing. Honor everything. Do right by your craft and your community. These are principles passed down, not invented. A Local Business with a Bigger Story Union Overall Company isn’t just important because it’s local. It’s important because it reminds us what “local” can be. Not just a place to shop—but a place to connect. To reflect. To remember that fashion, at its best, isn’t just about appearance—it’s about identity. It’s about knowing where you come from and wearing it like a badge. Norfolk is lucky to have Union Overall Company. And in a quieter way, Union Overall is lucky to have Norfolk—because no other place would have made sense. In the rhythm of this city, in its stitched-up past and its hopeful future, Brandy and Brian are preserving something precious: the idea that clothing can carry memory, that businesses can carry values, and that home… is something you make by hand.
The aesthetic of Union Overall is *chef’s kiss* It feels like a vintage shop you’d stumble upon in a big city — but without the ego. Brian was kind, welcoming, and super helpful; you can really tell how much thought and intention has gone into curating the space. If you’re into vintage, especially Americana, this store is an absolute must-visit.
What an amazing shop! It’s relatively new but quickly becoming a local gem! A unique (and ever changing) mix of vintage clothing, local nostalgia, and handmade/original pieces. The owner is always there and ready to help. I can’t recommend these place enough!
What other way to describe this place than just plain awesome! A great mix of new and old with an impeccable taste for style and timeless classics. The price point for everything I took note of was quite swell and tempting. I'm really happy Old Kings Road decided to nestle down in Hampton and you - yes, you fine reader - should most definitely check them out.
