Visited Vivo Amigo recently and overall had a really good experience. First things first this place is halal which is always a big plus. The service was amazing from the moment we walked in. Staff were friendly and attentive and actually checked in to see how everything was instead of just disappearing. The restaurant itself looks great too really nice artwork around the place which gives it a warm vibe and makes it feel a bit different from your usual spot. I did notice it currently has a 4 star hygiene rating but honestly the restaurant felt incredibly clean. Tables floors and toilets were all spotless and everything felt well looked after so it didn’t concern me at all. Now onto the nitty gritty the food. We started with poppadoms and honestly they were really nice. Fresh and crispy and not oily. The mango chutney stood out the most sweet with a slight tang and little chunks of mango in it not that watery stuff you sometimes get. The other dips were decent too but the mango chutney definitely carried it. For mains I ordered the butter chicken tikka masala which came with biryani and a small naan bread. This was easily the highlight of the meal, so scrumptious it definitely scratched my taste buds. The chicken was soft and cooked properly and not dry at all. The sauce was rich, creamy and full of flavour with a nice balance of spice and sweetness without being overpowering. The biryani was fragrant and fluffy and paired really well with the curry. Even the naan though small was soft and fresh and perfect for scooping up the sauce. Proper comfort food done right. We also ordered the masala calamari and unfortunately this was the only real let down. The squid was overcooked so it was very rubbery and hard to chew and the batter tasted burnt which ruined it completely. It had potential but just wasn’t enjoyable and I wouldn’t recommend ordering it. Dessert was mostly a win. We got the Mexican Delight which came with two churros two chocolate centre items and two mini coconut stuffed empanadas with chocolate and caramel sauce. The dessert platter itself was amazing. The churros were crispy on the outside soft inside and the coconut empanadas were genuinely lovely sweet and warm with a nice texture. We also got two gelatos chocolate and vanilla which were both really nice and creamy. The only disappointing part was the chocolate and caramel sauce. They tasted a bit cheap and overly sweet and didn’t really match the quality of the rest of the dessert which was a shame because everything else was spot on. One thing I really liked is that this restaurant connects to Stella Italia so you can also order from their menu as well. I think that’s very clever and gives you loads of options in one place. Overall I’d definitely go back. Amazing service great atmosphere strong mains and desserts with just a couple of small misses. I’d give it a solid 4 out of 5 and would happily recommend it to others.

Had a brilliant meal at vivo amigo, The fusion concept is executed wonderfully! We started with the fish tacos- the fish was perfectly crispy and the spiced salsa was delicious. For mains, the tandoori chicken enchilada was a standout!, packed with flavour. The friendly service made for a great atmosphere. Its exceptional value for such fresh, inventive food We will definitely be back and are recommending it to all our friends!

As part of my adventure to discover tasty foods around Cardiff, I stumbled across Vivo Amigo and I'm glad I did. After walking by and seeing a table full of mouthwatering food which was Instagram worthy, I decided to venture and for a lunchtime meal. Upon entering and admiring the decor in addition to the admiring the table full of colourful dishes, I was warmly greeted and shown to a table. I ordered the tandoori burrito which I was highly impressed by, not only the presentation but the amount of different flavours the dish had. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and will be returning after they have released their new menu in June.

This is such a lovely little place! The food was delicious and SO reasonably priced that I almost couldn’t believe my eyes when the bill came. We had the Classic Nachos to start which came with the usual sauces, but the salsa was amazing. I had the Tandoori Chicken Burger for main and my boyfriend had the Roti Tacos - both were delicious. We finished off with the Mexican Delight which were equally tasty. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to try something a little bit different!
