Great ambiance & vibe. Very unassuming exterior but beautiful interior decorations. Great sushi! I highly recommend the seafood tartare roll. The service could have been slightly better, as we did not receive the black dragon roll and the servers were slightly inattentive. I still had a very enjoyable meal despite this!

Absolutely delightful restaurant that we stumbled upon while we traveling through Edmonton. The outside doesn't look like much, but the inside is well decorated and thought out. Tables are insulated from each other with wall positions so each spot feels intimate and cozy. Servers are efficient, considerate and very kind. They were attentive without being overbearing, this doesn't strike me as a place where you would be forgotten. Food was very high quality. My husband was in love with their Toro, it was fresh with generous portions and incredibly tasty! We'll come back again, hopefully soon.

Yokozuna was recommended to us by one of our Japanese friends as one of the few authentic Japanese sushi places in Edmonton, and it did not disappoint! We have been coming here for more than two years now, and it continues to be one of our favorite spots for authentic Japanese food. The menu is large, fairly priced, and designed in izakaya style, so you can order multiple dishes and share. Over time, we’ve had a chance to try a variety of items and keep coming back for more. The skewers, sushi, and sashimi are standouts — always fresh and flavorful. The miso soup is comforting, and the clear soup is light and pleasant. Their teas pair perfectly with the meal and are a must when dining in. For dessert, the sesame ice cream is a true highlight — nutty, rich, and memorable. The mango ice cream was also a pleasant surprise, with a fresh and natural taste that rounded out the meal beautifully. On rare occasions, the rice hasn’t had the same fresh texture we usually enjoy — perhaps depending on the timing of our visit. Most of the time it’s spot-on, but once in a while it can be less than ideal. That said, the overall consistency of the food has kept us returning regularly. The restaurant itself has plenty of seating options — booths, tables, bar seating, and even room-style sections with tall walls for added privacy. Service has always been fast and attentive, even when busy, and the calm, unhurried atmosphere makes it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. Our only wish is that one day they start offering fatty salmon sashimi or sushi. It would be a perfect addition to an already excellent menu. Overall, Yokozuna offers consistently great food, attentive service, and a peaceful atmosphere. A wonderful choice for anyone looking for a quality Japanese dining experience in Edmonton.

This is my gem. Not many people know about it but I firmly believe it is the best Japanese restaurant in Edmonton . PERIOD. Staff/food/atmosphere all great. I’ve come here for over 10 years before the renovation and I will continue to come. (Ask for the specials on Fridays and weekends)

This place is a gem! Easily the best sushi is Edmonton. The food is consistently great. The quality is fantastic, very important when each seafood and particularly so for sushi. Wide variety on menu. Nana, the manager and the rest of the staff always take excellent care of us every time we visit. Make a reservation. This place is so great that they are very busy.
