Came for the pizza, stayed for the sauce and friendly atmosphere! If you're wondering if its as good as the pictures, its better! We came hungry, first meal of the day. We left satiated, packed with leftovers and looking forward to when we can heat them up later at home :)
I finally tried AJ’s Brooklyn Pizza Joint and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The pizza is legit Brooklyn-style. Thin, foldable crust, great balance of sauce and cheese, and that slightly crispy edge that makes each bite perfect. It feels casual, no-nonsense, and focused on doing pizza right. Service was friendly and fast, and it’s the kind of place you’ll crave again as soon as you leave. Easily one of my go-to pizza spots in Vancouver.
The pizza is tasty and they have different styles like Detroit, Sicilian, and Neapolitan. Also their Caesar salad is insanely good, I literally always crave it. Definitely order by the slice so you can try a few different ones. The service was great and our server was very kind and friendly. It can get very busy so expect a wait, and I wish they had more veggie options for the Detroit style.
This Detroit-style pizza was seriously impressive. The crust was perfectly crisp around the edges with that caramelized cheese crunch everyone loves, and the inside stayed soft and airy. The tomato sauce had a rich, tangy flavour that worked beautifully with the melted cheese, and the fresh basil on top added a nice hit of freshness. I wasn’t a big fan of the roasted black toppings, but everything else was spot on. Cheesy, saucy, and full of flavour.
First time at AJ’s and it’s hands down the best Brooklyn-style pizza in town. It’s a bit of a hidden gem or say a hole in the wall. It was hard to find, with more of a beer pub vibe than your typical pizza place with pop of colours and posters. Service was attentive. We tried the vegetarian, cheese, pepperoni, and Sicilian slices—all had a crispy crust with that perfect char my kids and I love. Toppings amounted to be not too much or less, and flavours came in perfect. It’s not soggy or skimpy. I’d seen some reviews here saying the pizza was overcooked or the tomato sauce cold, but that wasn’t our experience at all—everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. Overcooked was probably for the Neapolitan pizza fans but this one’s different and it’s got burnt crisp crust and toppings and we love it. The Sicilian with pepperoni was a standout, and the hot honey dip took it to another level. I’ve had pizza all over the world, and AJ’s is now one of our favorite. Can’t wait to come back and try the Detroit-style, next time!
