had an amazing experience thanks to our server, Tera. From the very beginning, he was attentive, genuine, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He took the time to adjust recommendations to our palate while still staying true to what the kitchen offers, which made every dish even more enjoyable. What really stood out was how kind and family-oriented he was with us. He made everyone feel comfortable and welcomed, and his warmth truly elevated our entire dining experience. Tera went above and beyond in every way—thoughtful, personable, and professional. He is the kind of server that makes you want to come back. Truly outstanding service.
Francisco our server took our experience to another level. The food was remarkable, I had a burger, but it was top notch, with that yummy bun. We had 3 appetizers, the goat cheese was unexpectedly delish. Lastly the deserts. We ordered 3 deserts, but my fave has to be the bread pudding. They are served in warm skillets and are a must. Then enjoy a walk just 10 steps away on the River Walk to let the food settle. Now, I do have to say that out of everything , my favorite part was the service from Francisco! He was hilarious, fast, witty. I was belly laughing. He should be on a stage somewhere. As the former Queen of the River Walk , who has tried almost every place on the River Walk, Ambler is one of my top picks. Enjoy!
One of the few non-touristy restaurants on the river walk. We both got the red snapper and it was phenomenal! Our server Tera was so sweet and had us laughing all night. Ask to sit in his section if you go.
I tried the red snapper, and unfortunately, it was underwhelming—lacking freshness and overall flavor. On the other hand, the 14oz New York strip was excellent—cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I would highly recommend that dish. What really disappointed me, however, was the service. For a restaurant of this caliber, I expected attentive and professional customer service, but it fell far short. Overall, while the steak was outstanding, the poor service and lackluster seafood made the experience a letdown
This was absolutely our favorite restaurant we ate at during our trip to San Antonio; not only for the food and the beautiful view of the river walk, but because of our server Francisco. He was so genuinely kind, patient, and thoughtful. He elevated our experience tremendously. We also loved the food and the ambience. I had the chillaquiles which is the best I've ever had anywhere, and my sister had the French toast which was also so unique and delicious. My sister and I are already talking about visiting again and bringing our husbands. We can't wait to return!
