My family and I started Austin Kung Fu and Tai Chi last year. We love it for so many reasons, including the community and personal growth. I previously struggled with high blood pressure, and after practicing Tai Chi before my annual doctor’s visit, my blood pressure was as low as it was 30 years ago—108/68. Thank you, Austin Kung Fu and Tai Chi, for helping me obtain my personal goals.
We love this community —our whole family joined, even our youngest. During her belt test, she faced a moment that could have shaped what she believed about herself. Master Joe was tuned in and he gave her the extra time and care she needed. The very next day, she was trying new things with confidence—eating broccoli and swimming underwater. I have been taking my two sons to this Shaolin Kung Fu school for seven years now, and they recently tested for their black belts! This is a **very legitimate place** with an incredible legacy. Grandmaster Shin is a true pioneer—he is the first to have been recognized in both North Shaolin and South Shaolin styles simultaneously, which speaks volumes about his expertise and dedication. The instructors here are amazing—patient, kind, and deeply passionate about preserving this special art. They genuinely care about their students and create a welcoming environment for everyone. I’ve referred many of my friends’ kids to this school, and they’ve all had great experiences too. My kids love it here, and they plan to continue learning until they’re adults. A safe place to land. Exceptional and passionate teachers for both children and adults. I joined in March 2024 as a Tai Chi student, seeking something deeper than what I’d found with Jenny Lu’s Tai Chi on YouTube. I quickly felt at home, welcomed as part of a warm and supportive community. Not long after, I transitioned to adult Kung Fu, which seemed to be calling me. The mental and physical challenge along with the emotional support has been a lifeline when I needed it. One of the standout features is the high teacher-to-student ratio, ensuring that each person receives the attention they need to improve at their own pace and level. The detailed instruction and care taken to preserve the integrity of Kung Fu as a martial art makes every class rewarding. My five-year-old is also enrolled in Kung Fu, and she’s showered with love and encouragement. Anyone who can be patient with my energetic, curious child immediately earns my respect and trust, and the teachers here do that effortlessly.
