We love Awesome Fitness! This is the place where my daughter and her team train for weightlifting. Mary was the only place in town that was open to having a children’s weightlifting team training in her gym. Athletes vary from 2nd graders to high school students. Her misson statement and life views align with our team views also. Training at Awesome Fitness is like training with family . My daughter loves Mary like an aunt and she loves my daughter like a niece . Mary has also trained my daughter and helped her be even more competitive at the National level in USA Weightlifting.
I started going to this gym a few months ago, and I was a bit nervous at first since I hadn’t worked out in a long time. But honestly, if you’re someone who’s shy or prefers a quieter space, this is the perfect spot. It’s a 24/7 gym, so I can come in whenever it works for me. The space is well kept, with plenty of weights and machines to use without feeling crowded. Everyone who comes in is super friendly and respectful, but also keeps to themselves, which I really appreciate. The owner is the sweetest person ever, super welcoming and very accommodating. And the sauna is such a nice little bonus after a long workout. I definitely recommend this gym to anyone looking for a new place to work out in a more private and comfortable setting!
I love this gym! It's got everything I need and isn't over crowded when I go..I hated to going to big gyms and having to wait for other people to finish up with a machine or weights I needed. Being a working mom I have to make the most of my time. The owner is amazing too! She's so caring and helpful! Everything is well maintained and clean which is a major plus as well. I can't recommend this gym enough!
I started going to Awesome Fitness in July 2023 after speaking with Mary, the owner about all the things they had to offer. I started working out with her a few times a week and trying to get in shape to better my health. I knew I wanted to lose some weight, but overall I wanted to improve my health. I was up front with her about my concerns and she showed me over the next year and a half different ways to work on my body on all of the machines she had. I lost 68 lbs working with Mary, I was not perfect, I still have a ways to go. She helped me see that my body could do things I had not ever imagined in the shape I was in. I have moved out of town now after getting married, but this is a gym I would be back in if I moved back to Bakersfield. Its a smaller gym, but it has EVERYTHING you need to get a good workout, it's open 24 hours so there are no excuses to hitting the gym when you have a minute! Thank you for everything, Mary. I will use everything you taught me to continue my journey.
As someone who's tried out at least 5 different gyms around town, this is by far my favorite. The community and vibe of the gym is second to none. Being open 24/7 means I can make my own schedule no matter what time I need to get a workout in. The owner is a certified fitness coach and nutritionist and is always available to answer questions and help with whatever you need. I always feel welcome and have never had a bad experience in the year I've been going here.
