Please don’t waste your $$$ that does not know how to interact/treat a customer with common courtesy instead have an irritated demeanor for bringing in bottles of wine (I called and informed that the corks broke half way through, so was asked to bring them in!). He struggled to open one of the bottles of wine with the broken cork that was stuck half way through! Then proceeds to be irritated and informs me that it’s my fault that I don’t know how to open a bottle of wine!!! There are several reasons why a cork breaks in the bottle common in older wines or due to improper storage and also improper techniques (mainly not using a proper cork opener) but was told the reason was because I, ‘the customer’ does not know how to open a bottle of wine! The wine is good by his Highness’s expert opinion so I was supposed to just take them and get lost. The fact that my experience was ruined at my party was not his concern! I patronized this place but it is definitely my last. Very disappointing. Just the sheer interaction with the gentleman was not worth my time or my dime.
Always my favorite wine shop in DC! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and the selection is impeccable, from small family vineyards to the big known quality names. Also great for craft liquors. A wonderful little neighborhood gem.
The mezcal I purchased was fine, but the owner gave me askance that I definitely didn’t order or ask for. Considering the ridiculous price point of almost anything in there-it’s uncalled for, regarding the economy and inevitable tariffs on goods like the ones he selling.
Good selection but as others say they have 1.5 to 2x markup. Paid $91 a bottle I realized is now $45 at Hop, Cask, and Barrel. Will not be back. Another example, saw whiskey (Murray Hill club) in there that’s $89 to $99 elsewhere for $149. Just ridiculous price gouging.
Fun shop with lots of beautiful selections from reasonably priced $20 bottles two more impressive collectible one is better. Good quality alcohol and pretty to look at. The only reason for a four-star review is because there was an obvious tasting of a bottle going on between the locals and the shop owners and when I asked for a little taste they said that they were done with a bottle. I think for the purposes of new customers they should always have a little sip or two to offer for a tasting that would go a long way in sales especially on a New Year's Eve. After all the customers with a little bit of blood alcohol level I'm much more likely to splurge on $180 bottle of tequila that I absolutely adored and would be much more likely to buy if I had a sip of wine. I think in our culture when we have a guest over we try to always offer them something even if it's a small gesture. The bond lady was very hospitable and really knew her wine and 🍾
