Few little words can set the tone of what one can encounter, especially when attempting to ask if something you're bringing in to sell has any value. But the value of words seems to be lost on the eccentrically dressed owner. Three offsetting repeative word of "no" felt condescending at the same time while feeling diminished of my own time. When attempting to ask if the lamp or teacup sets were of any value, the owner's final and fourth "no" established the note as to how we were perceived within our status. We went down to Lots of Furniture where, though nothing was purchased because we were informed of the hardship to sell such items, one of the buyers looked through and told me how to sell them and what to actually expect. The buyer there spent about 5 minutes with me explaining everything in such little time. The buyer's time at Lots of Furniture caused me to actually make a purchase. I actually felt valued. Would I return back to Benny's? Three simple repetitive words would be volleyed back to the owner.
Nice expensive antiques, beautiful furniture. Some oddities which were cool.
I came here with a friend yesterday, and an older gentlemen greeted us upon arrival. He appeared friendly and told us to let him know if we have any questions. However, I began to notice that said gentlemen and a younger employee were watching/following us. Why? I saw a few things I wanted to buy, but once I realized this, we left. Needless to say, I’m never going back. We had a much better experience at Lula B’s — and that’s where I’ll continue to shop for antiques.
Highly recommend Benny Jack's! Great selection of unique pieces every time I go, and the service is just as impressive. I recently bought an antique dining table & one of the team members really went out of his way to give me an exceptional experience. I later found out it was Benny, the owner. I'm a forever customer!
By far the BEST antique shop in Dallas! The items are curated but they’re not overpriced! They have the most insane taxidermy and unique items! Most antique stores in Dallas are the same old stuff but not Benny Jacks! The staff has always been helpful and I have been able to negotiate on prices! I usually get so overstimulated by antique stores but this place is genuinely so fun to look around.
