Michael Gurtler (Senior Project Designer) - Must use for all Landscape / Paving Needs Responsive, honest, professional, adaptable to our wants and needs - could not ask for a better Project Designer from design to execution. Our backyard landscape was hard to access and on a slope, Mike and his team delivered beyond expectations. When extenuating events occurred (e.g., discovering a massive trunk under the dirt, third-party delivery truck stalling in neighborhood street, etc.), Mike immediately took action and addressed the issues to ensure project remained within reasonable timelines and within agreed budget. Furthermore, when we decided to pivot from original project plan, Mike was very receptive and easy to work with. Will definitely use Mike for future landscaping and paving needs! Project Scope included: Demolition / removal of old retaining wall made out of railroad ties Demolition / removal of steps made of made out of railroad ties Installation of new retaining wall (Belgard Belair Wall / French Drain / lighting) Installation of Belgard landing slabs for steps Installation of new retaining wall to prevent hillside from falling into home (Estate Wall /French Drain)
Jim, Jorge, Joan and everyone else that worked with us to fix up our back and then our front yard did an amazing job, beautiful pavers and amazing landscaping, you really can't go wrong if you decide to go with them. It was a joy working with them from start to finish. I've attached some before/after photos.
After 15 years, we were finally able to make over our front yard and contacted Black Diamond. Wow! We could not have hoped for more. Senior Designer/Project Manager, Jeremy, was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. He listened to our ideas, told us what might and might not be possible, and made suggestions based on our ideas. He understood our budget limitations and was always conscious of that when we wanted--or needed--to make a change. The process takes time for the design, the contract, and then the execution. The project crew, led by Jesus, was excellent. They were hardworking, professional, and always respectful of us and our needs. We hope to start a backyard project in the coming year and will definitely reach out to Black Diamond and Jeremy.
Black Diamond did a phenomenal job on paving and landscaping at my house. They were professional and top notch from start to finish. I was also impressed at their attention to detail, and by how prompt they were about addressing any questions or concerns and constantly checking in with me to make sure that everything was going well. Jeremy (designer and project manager) was very collaborative and hands-on. He was very knowledgeable about plants and was able to turn my suggestions into a design that covered all of my goals. He was able to talk through the pros and cons of various choices and was very patient in explaining all the options. I was hoping for low maintenance drought-tolerant landscaping that would also attract hummingbirds, butterflies and pollinators -- and I've been thrilled to see them already enjoying the new plants. Jesus and his crew worked fast -- but also put special effort into taking care of little details I probably wouldn't even have noticed. They were professional and took special care to minimize disruption for me when they were doing the demolition (concrete removal). I highly recommend Jeremy, Jesus (and crew) and Black Diamond!
We first heard of Black Diamond from receiving fliers in our mailbox. When we finally made the decision to renovate our backyard, we contacted them for a consult and from our very first meeting with Jeremy Ousset, we were convinced that he was the one that was going to bring our vision to life. We had a very rough sketch of what we wanted, and Jeremy was able to incorporate it into a beautiful design. We were unsure of which specific styles and colors, but Jeremy met with us several times at multiple locations and brought materials to our home so we could see them first hand before we made a decision. Once the work began, Jeremy frequently visited our home to ensure the materials and the work being done was correct and on schedule. In some cases, it wasn’t, and he was quick to resolve the issues so there would not be a delay in the project. The team was great about keeping the mess to a minimum and securing the space to ensure individuals that weren’t supposed to be on our property weren’t able to enter. The team was also mindful of our family, and always coordinated “loud” times with us to avoid disruptions in our schedules. There were several occasions when we discovered additional work needed to be done, but it was outside of Black Diamond’s scope. Jeremy was very knowledgeable and was able to refer other vendors to us, who were also great! A few months after completion, we noticed some of the pavers settled and we needed touch up to fill up some of the gaps. The team came back soon after we notified them to assess and brought the materials over that was needed for the touch up. We are very happy with the results and the continued service we receive. We host gatherings in our new backyard often and have received many compliments. We hope to be able to remodel our front yard in the future and plan to use Black Diamond again.
