From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a warm, cosy atmosphere that blends rustic charm with a genuine love for books, coffee, and good food. Exposed brick and stone walls, soft lighting, and shelves filled with books create a relaxed, inviting space that feels more like a living room than a café. The food is excellent and thoughtfully prepared. The avocado toast is a real standout – perfectly seasoned, generously topped, and served on quality bread, with fresh salad on the side that adds both colour and balance. Everything feels fresh, wholesome, and made with care rather than rushed out of a kitchen. Portions are satisfying without being heavy, making it ideal for breakfast, brunch, or a light lunch. Coffee lovers won’t be disappointed either. The coffee is smooth, well-made, and consistently good, whether you’re after a flat white, cappuccino, or something stronger to fuel a productive afternoon. It’s the kind of coffee that pairs perfectly with a book, conversation, or quiet moment to yourself. What really sets Books N Cup Café apart is the atmosphere and people. What a lovely cafeteria. The staff is so kind, smiley and attentive. We took a cappuccino, an almond croissant, a pain de chocolate and a carrot cupcake . The cappuccino and the pain de chocolate were really good but the croissant and the cupcake wasn't for my tastes but it's ok. The bathroom was really clean and they had female hygiene products. The prices were normal. I loved the bookshelves and that people were reading books or working with their laptops. It gives cosy vibes.
12/10 cozy, warm and delicious toasties on sourdough. Rich Machina coffee ☕ dope hot chocolates. An ethereal nook in the city! the best staff. If you're looking for a cozy late night cafe: home to late night students, a spot to journal, read a book, people watch, it's the place for you!🍁 ❄️
So nice I came here twice! May I recommend the Rose Latte. It is just delicious and so aesthetically pleasing. I loved it so much I came back the next morning and camped out with my laptop in a cozy little corner. Honorable mention for the decor which also lends itself to the cozy-cute impeccable aesthetic. The staff are all so friendly and lovely, too. Big fan!
Wonderful hidden gem! The staff were absolutely lovely and you can tell from the quality of the food and drinks that they love what they do. Highly recommend the rose latte and raspberry mocha while they're still available on their seasonal menu! Beautiful experience to end our stay in Edinburgh :D
