The Buddhist Temple of Toledo offers a huge number of practice options for people of all levels of experience, designed to help us connect fully with our lives. Modern life seems to conspire to keep us distracted and unsatisfied, but through my time at the temple, I can better appreciate my good fortune and handle difficult situations with far less reactivity. Do not squander your life...
These so called zen Buddhists banned my wife after her first day because she had a psychological counselor who “they had a conflict of interest” with 4 years prior. These so called zen Buddhists are spiritually weak and not true descendants of the Buddha, rather they are using their spirituality as a facade. This is discrimination, non inclusionary practice that is against their own ethical guidelines, all to protect their corrupt leadership. I would go so far as to call the leadership of this establishment as evil. My wife hasn’t seen this therapist in 4 years and also signed a confidentiality with the person involved . This confidentiality agreement was broken in order to ban us on our first day of practice. We were excited to try out a new spiritual practice but were instead met with liars and people who use the buddhas message for evil and the gain of so called “leadership” . I would strongly recommend that anyone who seeks enlightenment avoid this temple at all costs. They are not spreading the message of Buddha but rather the message of discrimination and evil. They are a tight knit group who tries hard to keep “outsiders” out in the words of their so called abbot. He is nothing but a Pharisee using religion for financial gain, not to help others. In the first sermon they talked about fearlessness , but they are afraid of “outsiders”. It reminded me of a cult truly.
The Toledo Buddhist Temple is more than just a place of worship; it's a haven of peace and kindness for anyone seeking it. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with such warmth and authenticity by everyone I encountered. It felt like a true community, welcoming and open to all. Whether you're interested in learning more about Buddhism or looking for a group to practice zazen, the Temple offers a serene atmosphere in beautiful natural setting. I highly recommend a visit to the Toledo Buddhist Temple for anyone in the area.
A positive, refreshing experience walking in as a new person on a Wednesday night! Had a one on one talk with a member and although I struggle with social anxiety, he and everyone else there put me at ease. He also taught me so much I continue to reflect on. I can’t wait til my schedule permits me to come back. Currently reading more about zen buddhism and considering becoming a member 😁
Incredible temple on a beautiful campus facilitating excellent meditation and traditional zen practice. The temple offers great services on Wednesday (7:30 PM) and Sunday (11:00 AM), along with monthly retreats (sesshin). They also regularly offer beginning instruction meditation classes. Community is warm and friendly and always welcoming to newcomers looking to learn the dharma. Website has tons of information on how to approach this if it is your first time, but you will always find someone to answer your question if you show up and feel uncertain!
