Absolutely fantastic restaurant on Carson street with a great, cozy atmosphere. Small setting right next to the open kitchen and you can see all of the delicious dishes come out. The bruschetta was awesome. Wish I took some to go. The peppered fettuccine was as good as any fettuccine I’ve had in years. The veal was amazing as well, one of the best pieces I’ve had in Pittsburgh. Spaghetti was also done perfectly and the cheesecake was delicious. Bonus points for the Mexican coke and sprite bottles. Bottom line, this place rocks. 10/10. I cannot wait to go back again. Chef/owner was pleasant to talk to and he did mention that the menu switches up every few months. I’ll be back for that veal chop and ravioli for sure!
Came here for my 27th birthday, it’s a beautiful spot the server was amazing, I wish there were more vegetarian options, so I’m being a bit picky! To add to that beans sand greens would be a great option, but if sausage could be an add on that would be great! Again coming from a vegetarian so this is biased!
Saw that a new Italian restaurant had opened in Southside and was eager to try! We came here for dinner on a Friday and had a 7pm reservation. The dining room is smaller so I would definitely recommend making a reservation if possible. Also it is BYOB, which we did not realize so bring your own wine. They start you with fresh bread and delicious dipping oil. We shared the citrus and fennel salad which was fresh and had a lovely flavor from the roasted fennel vinaigrette. For entrees, we shared the ricotta gnocchi, which were on special, and the Branzino al Cartoccio. The gnocchi were a 12/10, perfectly pillowy with a luscious cream sauce and a drizzle of basil oil with fresh peas and shoots. Could’ve licked the bowl. The fish was well prepared, but I would’ve much preferred with the skin and the couscous could’ve used some seasoning. However, the fish itself was delicious. For dessert we shared the cannoli and I haven’t had authentic cannoli filling like that in some time, super tasty. Everything was delicious and prepared in an open kitchen. A husband/wife run the whole show themselves and led quite impressive. I definitely recommend giving them a try.
Newly opened on East Carson Street, Capozoli’s Trattoria is the cutest Italian restaurant to hit the South Side! Located in the former Cucina Vitale space, this fresh chapter is co-owned by the sweetest husband-and-wife duo—fittingly named after their family name, Capozoli. The space is cozy and intimate, so a reservation is definitely recommended. Bonus: it's BYOB! Their menu may be small, but that just makes the decision easier (even though I don’t think you could go wrong with anything here!). You're welcomed with warm bread and oil—a lovely start. We ordered the bruschetta: crispy focaccia topped with whipped ricotta, garlic, oven-roasted tomatoes, balsamic reduction, and fresh basil. A true masterpiece. For mains, the Pasta Primavera was bursting with flavor—spring pea emulsion, bucatini, asparagus tips, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, and basil. I added the chicken and WOW—hand-breaded, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. I’m already planning my return just for that chicken. We also tried the show-stopping 40-layer lasagna, featuring ricotta béchamel, San Marzano sauce, and Parmigiano. Absolutely delicious and beautifully plated. Although the dessert menu looked incredible, we were too full this time... just another reason to go back soon. Capozoli’s is a gem where great food and heartfelt neighborhood vibes come together
I enjoyed a night out with friends at Capozoli’s during their first week open. The dining room is small and intimate, allowing you to peak into the kitchen to watch the chef prepare your meal. Our table split many of the appetizers and were pleased with the flavors, presentation and size of all of them. Highly recommend the Parmesan Beignets! My main meal selection was the Veal Milanese and it will be hard for me to pick a different dish next time because it was so good! The veal had the crispiest breading and the lemon arugula on top added a really nice freshness and crunch! Capozoli's is BYOB which is amazing so you can enjoy your favorite wines with their signature dishes. Connor and Irina (owners) really made us feel welcome and we enjoyed a conversation with them at the end of our meal. 10/10 would recommend and will be returning soon!
