Just had a great informal tasting at the shop - 7 x wines with delicious nibbles and bites - some great inspirations for the forthcoming festive period. Really recommend people support this local, community-based wine merchant with pedigree behind it (their wines also go to Le Monde; Puerto Custom House; and Coach & Horses gastro pub amongst others). Cheers!
James was very knowledgeable about the wines we tasted, it was very relaxed and so much fun. Good value for money as well! The mince pies were a nice touch. We all loved it and will definitely look out for the next wine tasting sessions!
We thoroughly enjoyed our first wine tasting here! A lovely variety of different rosés for us to try from different wine regions and a guided wine tasting with James was super fun. We had some lovely food (bread and oils, olives, cheese, meats, all the good stuff!) that is sold in the shop also and it was all beautiful! We met some lovely people who I am sure we will bump into at the next event as we are already booked onto the next one!
Attended a wonderful wine tasting event last night at the Wine Cellar, James the host was fantastic. A great insight into some gorgeous tasting rose wines but also a lot fun, can’t wait for the next one! They also stock some fantastic wines, we are addicted to the place, if you haven’t visited, get down there, you won’t be disappointed.
What a lovely evening, this was the first wine tasting evening I attended at Casa Martinez and I must say it did not disappoint. After popping in to the wine shop to have a look around a couple of weeks ago we got chatting to James (our host) who explained that wine tasting evenings were going to be launched and the first one would be focusing on Rose, I do love a rose. On the night the shop had a lovely atmosphere when we arrived, there was plenty of meat, cheeses, olives, bread and crisps to snack on and the team could not do enough to make us feel welcome. We were given a sheet with a list of the wines we were going to try where we could make notes and the evening started with a bubbly and we were encouraged to have a chat to the other people attending. Everyone was lovely and got on as we all had some in common, the love of wine. James poured generous portions of each rose, talked through the wine and then encouraged open discussion, we didn't feel rushed and James answered any questions we had. It was so interesting to understand wine percentage, cost and taste and how we all have different views. There was a clear winner for us from the evening so we decided to purchase a bottle too. We cant wait for the next evening as we will definitely be attending. What a lovely addition to the Cardiff wine scene.
