Love a good patty melt, and the one I ordered at Cassell's is the best I've ever had. It's not even close. It's a generous sized patty cooked to perfection with beautifully sauteed onions and creamy yet zesty dijon mayo on the side for dipping that adds the right amount of flavor to accompany that wonderfully toasted crunch you're looking for in melt. You would be cheating yourself if you ordered it on anything but the rye. This old school favorite delivers in a classy, retro deli ambiance to match. Sophie and the rest of the staff are incredibly welcoming and informative. Cassell's is worth your time when that burger craving strikes.
Found this spot while waiting for my hotel room to be ready…have been back everyday at some point even though I’m here for a conference! Food will not disappoint. Chili cheese fries will not disappoint. Mozzarella cheese sticks for happy hour - will not disappoint. New fav anytime I’m in LA! Staff is amazing too! Already feel like a regular!
I started at the original Casell's in the '80's, when it was further east on 6th street. It was mostly self serve. It is now at 6th and Normadie, where I visited this past weekend. What a great place. The cheeseburger and fries were really good. The gentleman who took my order was very helpful and friendly, and give me the background of how it had moved to the hotel of the next owner. Love this place. I'll be back.
Really good food for really good prices. We had the Spicy Burger Medium patty and it was cooked beautifully. So much flavor on the burger I got one to go. The onion rings were really good also with a side of ranch. The chili cheese fries were the star of the night with packed flavors in every bite. All in all such a good spot with great food and great staff.
I was here twice within the same week I stayed in LA and I have nothing but nice things to say. I came during the weekdays so it was super quiet, the staff is incredibly nice and even recognised me the second time I came. The breakfast burger was tasty but the patty melt was absolutely amazing - I highly recommend. The fries on the side are massive so those are good value for money. I really like the vibe and design of the place too. Would come back if I'm in LA again!
