So no teas, no hot water served at City Halls. Had to wait 20-30 minutes longer than expected outside for doors to open. Had to tip flask of hot water before I entered. Was told I'd be able to get that replenished at the bar but it turns out they couldn't. On a cold January evening too! This was not what I expected. Just hope the performances take my mind off this farce.
Before I even bought my ticket I looked at Google maps and found it very easy. The building has a great history and as you walk through the doors you automatically feel the atmosphere from past of great times. I'm in a wheelchair ♿️ and throughout the whole evening Natalie was there to open doors to get to the toilet 🚻 they were spotless. I was having a problem with the e ticket and David help find it. This was the first concert since my stroke and I was just relaxed. Then I was talking to the bar ,no coffee ☕️ a blackcurrant with water and 🧊 .I sat and read the reading material about Peer Support .As soon as I got to the double doors Natalie was there taking me to the right hand side of the market hall. It's been a weird few day but I've enjoyed going with the flow. This was going back to 19 75 and the 3 albums and a few bands members who are still with us. To all the staff and all people who I chatted to I would like to say a heartfelt God Bless You. I became young again. Rikk Carnegie.
Myself and my husband had our Wedding reception here in August and we have no regrets. Due to family illness we had to move our Wedding from Ireland and booked with the Old Fruitmarket in the December. Eight months to plan a Wedding sounds intense but it was made so much easier with Neal, Kirsty and the amazing team at the Fruitmarket. From the first email they were professional, helpful and quick to reply. Our guests loved the venue and could not get over the setting, how beautiful the food was and how well the bar service was too. The picture below is how guests are taken into the venue posts drinks reception and it caused many Wow moments. If you are looking for a different venue to a hotel and want something that is quintessentially Glasgow then look no further. We had a live band aswell and the acoustics were phenomenal. My Mum is in a wheelchair and thankfully did not have to miss any of our day as the building has full disability access. I would highly recommend the Fruitmarket for your wedding or function, thanks again everyone for helping to make our day amazing. x
Beautiful venue, stands out from any other and you can tell it's got a charming bit of history to it. Excellent acoustics, not too big but big enough to get a good crowd going.
Attended Synth & Strings production - classical trance. Very nicely put together set. The venue is an amazing setting. Acoustics were spot on, as were the lighting and lasers. Only let down was the speed of the bar service. Despite having 3 bars in the event, I still had a 45-minute wait for a few drinks.
