Really appreciate their advice and honesty. I trust them, always satisfied with the result. Thank you!
Fabulous recommendation from my usual mechanic to use Imran at Crathie MOTORS for tyres. Great price, great service quick and reliable... so much so, I got my 4 new tyres PLUS 4 tyres for my wife's car... and he gave me hints on other things that will need attention for my wife's car. Fully recommend 👌
Fixed my Exhaust when it fell off heading to Glasgow, nothing was a problem was able to see me next day and fix same day, my part was quite unique to the car I have so them being able to source one and fix same day I was ecstatic,Honest team of mechanics and wouldn't hesitate to use again if I ever require their services Thanks
Great garage, honest owner who fixes your car for a good price, does a good job, explained everything to me really well and cares. Also fixed my car on multiple occasions very quickly, no waiting a week or more for him to get round to the job, he fixed it ASAP, back the next day. Appreciate having a friendly mechanic close by.
Crathie Motors now have a new loyal customer. We went to "Halfords McConechys Partick Glasgow Autocentre" for our MOT. We FAILED the test. Halfords said we had 1 front coil spring and 2 rear coil springs that were broken and needed replaced. They wanted to replace all 4 coil springs for a cost of £727.82 (front) and £633.98 (rear). That plus both stabiliser links (£128.54), a front wheel realignment (£49.99). The total of all those things plus some other minor stuff: £1566.33. Something felt very wrong with those costings. My gut told me we were getting scammed. After doing a search online, those costings didn't align with the going market rate either. Crathie were great. Friendly. Informative - they explained to me what a stabiliser link was when I looked confused at the line item! One of the guys - who previously worked at Kwikfit - explained that the chains always make you renew the spring coils in pairs, and as long as you're not "driving like Michael Schumacher" that we wouldn't have any issues with stability if they just changed the broken springs. Crathie charged us £406 (parts & labour) for changing 3 coil springs, 1 stabiliser link. The next day we PASSED our MOT. So Crathie Motors got our car roadworthy for a quarter of the price that "Halfords McConechys Partick Glasgow Autocentre" were quoting. I will be contacting Halfords for feedback. In the future, I will only be considering Crathie Motors for any work that needs doing. They're clearly honest guys that won't screw you over. *EDIT* 26/2/25 I got a call from the manager at Halfords Partick Autocentre, and it's only fair to add their feedback. For starters, they responded incredibly quickly to my request for a call back to understand the difference in price. And I must say he was incredibly nice about it all - honest and not defensive. In a nutshell, alongside all the trappings of being a larger business and a franchisee, the main difference in price cited was the quality of the components. They insist on using the best parts available/recommended by the manufacturer, which carries a significant increase in price. He mentioned their warranty, and that their quote included components/work which wasn't essential to getting the car roadworthy, but was recommended. I was told if we were to use them again to speak with him and ask what can be done to bring the price down if I'm not happy with the quote. Personally, if the components are safe - which they are - I'm happy with the components Crathie used, and considering their components are drastically more affordable I'm happy with the possibility they might not last quite as long. But I strongly suspect, the more expensive coil springs at Halfords aren't going to last 4x as long as the components used at Crathie.
