Every time I walk through the garden I meet someone new. So many native varieties of plants here. This place is full of education opportunities from learning about plants, beneficial bugs, composting, and even spirituality. New projects are started every year and everyone is encouraged to help. Just show up and start asking about opportunities on how you can belong to a very niche part of Detroit. All are welcome here. Bring some clothes that can get dirty! Earth is waiting for your hands and feet to be part of this community!
We visited here for the first time today & wow! It was wayyy bigger than we thought it was going to be. I swear it was an explosion of color at every turn! So many dragonflies, butterflies, etc, it was great. There's bench swings. We noticed a play area for kids. Great place to take kids to appreciate nature. It was all breathtakingly beautiful! We'll be back!
APPAULED to find a LIVE GROUNDHOG CAUGHT IN A TRAP ON THIS PROPERTY after finding signs about being kind to nature and don’t eat meat… we were here all of 2 minutes and heard a suffering animal in a kill trap and couldn’t help it in time. An animal died here today unnecessarily and because someone set this horrendous trap. Whoever set this on this property should be ashamed.
Such a unique and inspiring place! Plant lovers unite! Come to see plants of all shapes and sizes that bloom and thrive in Detroit. I came for the meet and greet Tuesday morning and was able to connect with several employees and volunteers. The owner, Tom even took some time to say hi and chit chat a bit. I can't wait to come back with my family to see what else is in bloom!
This is a magical place right in the middle of a neighborhood. Simply park your car along the street and enjoy this free offering that is beautiful and meaningful in raising funds and awareness with their flowers, vegetables, and event space. We went to enjoy Tai Chi and will definitely go again as the garden itself and what you can do there is ever changing.
