This place is ridiculous. Twice now I've brought in my car for their "free tire patches" and twice now they've told me because of where the damage is, it would be unsafe to repair. And then they try to sell me brand new tires even though the damaged tires aren't even a month old. Each time this Discount Tire told me my tires were ruined, I've brought my car to Crest Tires. Crest Tires told me the damage wasn't on the side wall and that it was perfectly safe to repair. It isn't free; it's 8 dollars a patch but they do an excellent job and repair the tires very easily. I was told Discount Tire uses the "free patches" as a marketing technique to get customers so they can sell tires. They very rarely actually patch anything. Considering twice now they've said my brand new tires were ruined when they weren't, I'm inclined to believe their "free tire patches" are in fact nothing but a marketing scheme. Also, the employees at Discount Tire telling me my tires would blow if I didn't buy brand new tires was ridiculous. They insisted if I got the tires patched at Crest Tires instead of buying brand new tires from them, I'd be putting myself, my family, and other drivers in danger. These scare tactics to make a sell are outrageously unethical. A disgusting practice. I'm a woman, not an idiot. A company that attempts to make money off of what they hope is an ignorant woman is deplorable. Bring your vehicles to Crest Tires. They actually have integrity and ethics and don't try to sell you new tires when the tires you have are perfectly fine.
Discount Tire is all about selling on scare tactics and upselling just like brand name auto dealerships. I will never buy any tires from Discount ever because of these practices. It wasn’t like that a long time ago. They sell on being overly cautious. Safety is very important, but there is fine line Discount goes way overboard. I referring all the stores in Lubbock.
I called ahead because I had a nail in the wall of my tire at the one on 82nd and Milwaukee. They were really booked, so I went to the one on Slide Road, because the salesperson said I could get in right away and I did. My total time was about 30 minutes tops, maybe less. Everything was explained to me and I drove off with a brand new tire, because it was under warranty. Great job.
Our family has been using discount tire for years. My mom took her vehicle in and there was a misunderstanding but Devin came in and took great care of her. We will stay using discount because they train the management properly! Thank you again Devin for taking care of my mom.
We pulled into the service area simply requesting air for our tires—something that is typically a quick and routine courtesy. However, what followed left us deeply disappointed and disrespected. Despite four employees visibly present and unoccupied, not a single one approached us or offered assistance. We waited in the car for an extended period of time, clearly in need of help, and were blatantly ignored. What made this experience even more disturbing was observing other customers—who did not look like us—being attended to promptly. It is difficult to interpret this as anything other than racially motivated neglect. As two Black customers, we felt singled out and unwelcome in an environment that should provide equal service to all. We expected professionalism and basic decency, and instead we were met with indifference and discrimination. This kind of treatment is unacceptable and does not align with the values that a company like Discount Tire claims to stand for. We are requesting a formal response and explanation from management, as well as assurance that this incident will be investigated and addressed appropriately. No one should have to question whether the color of their skin is the reason they were denied service. We hope you take this matter seriously—not just for us, but for every future customer who walks through your doors expecting fair and equal treatment.
