This was the second of two stops during my visit to Dallas last night, and it turned out to be the perfect way to wrap up the evening. After attending a cybersecurity workshop at Tyler Station, I headed over to the Bishop Arts District to finally try Emporium Pies — a spot I've popped into on and off for years. Since I was already in the neighborhood, I figured it was the perfect moment to seize the opportunity and take home a couple of truly delicious pies. Finding parking meant I ended up several blocks away, but that walk gave me a moment to take in just how much Bishop Arts has transformed. I've been coming here since the early 2000s, back when the district was really just a small cluster of quirky shops — maybe 2 or 3 blocks — surrounded by older single‑family homes on pier‑and‑beam foundations. When Emporium Pies debuted around 2012, it was a big deal. Back then, they were a charming silo in a neighborhood still searching for its voice. Their generous $5–$6 slices came in real woven baskets, and the whole experience felt handcrafted and personal. I even kept a several of those original baskets for crafts. Last night, the district felt almost unrecognizable in the best possible way. The area has grown into a full‑fledged destination: polished streets, designated parking, high‑end apartments, and a much larger collection of businesses than I ever remember. Emporium Pies is no longer the lone standout — it's now one gem among many — but it still carries that original warmth. The storefront has a cozy, storybook charm, especially at night when the lights spill onto the sidewalk. Inside, the atmosphere is just as inviting: soft lighting, friendly staff, and the unmistakable smell of fresh pie that hits you the moment you walk in. Even late in the evening, the staff were upbeat and patient. The display case looked beautiful, and I took photos and videos because the presentation deserved it. For my visit, I ordered two slices: The Hot Cake — a seasonal buttermilk pie layered with house‑made salted maple caramel, described as tasting like the perfect pancake. It's seasonal, so I lucked out catching it while it was available. The Smoother Operator — a French silk chocolate pie with a salty pretzel crust, topped with a chocolate rosette. Rich, smooth, and beautifully balanced. (And yes, I'll admit I Googled the ingredient descriptions afterward — but only because I wanted to do them justice.) Both slices were excellent: flavorful, thoughtfully made, and true to the reputation Emporium Pies has built over the years. It's worth noting — respectfully — that the post‑pandemic era has brought some changes. The slices are smaller, the menu is more limited, and the "baskets" are now printed paper replicas instead of the real woven ones from their early days. But the quality of the pies themselves remains high, and the experience still feels thoughtful and intentional. What I appreciated most was how unhurried the space felt. Even with people coming and going, there’s a calmness to the shop that makes it easy to enjoy the moment. Overall: Emporium Pies remains a lovely part of Bishop Arts — a place that has grown and changed along with the district itself. If you haven't visited in years, the transformation alone is worth the trip, and Emporium Pies is the perfect spot to rediscover what makes the area special.
Worth the carbs! Fantastic taste. Not sicky sweet. Perfect flavor. Loved it. And the staff are wonderful. Love the outdoor seating. Stop for a slice and enjoy the world going by!

One of the best pies I’ve ever had. Clean bathrooms. ✅♿️ wheelchair accessible ramp to enter + SO MUCH INDOOR & OUTDOOR SEATING!! Come to the neighborhood for pie, stay for the vibe of the amazing stores nearby. A perfect Sunday afternoon? I think it might be.
Oh my pie! What a cute spot. And the pie tasted even better than this place looks. Lots of options. We went with the chocolate and peach flavors. So good that we inhaled them before we could get a pic. The packaging is so cute and works great to transport carry-out orders. Fabulous!

If only I could have warmed it up and paired it with some vanilla bean ice cream, it would have been absolute perfection. Even without it, this apple pie was beyond incredible. Each slice is a masterpiece, featuring a towering 4-inch depth packed with ten freshly peeled and chopped apples. These apples are baked to tender perfection in the bakery’s rich, house-made caramel, giving each bite the perfect balance of sweetness and warmth. But what really takes this pie to the next level is the crispy cinnamon streusel topping, which adds just the right amount of crunch and spice. Encased in a buttery, flaky crust that melts in your mouth, this dessert is the definition of comfort food with a gourmet twist. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Deep Ellum, Emporium Pies is a must-visit, and “Lord of the Pies” should be at the top of your list. It’s easily one of the best apple pies I’ve ever had, and I highly recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth. Next time, I’m definitely coming back with a scoop of ice cream to complete the experience!
