Upon arrival, no one greeted us and there was no staff member at the front desk. After signing paperwork, we were directed to the waiting area, where we overheard staff speaking unprofessionally about other employees. We also heard comments about a room smelling like mold and that laundry had not been done the previous day, which was very concerning and immediately made us uncomfortable. Despite requesting two female massage therapists, we were assigned a male therapist, which was not what we asked for. Our appointment was scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM, yet it started 16 minutes late due to one of the specialists arriving late. The room we were placed in had an unpleasant odor, as did the therapist, and there was no noticeable aromatherapy present. This environment was far from relaxing. The massage itself did not meet expectations. The therapist did not listen to our requested focus areas and spoke throughout the session, which disrupted the experience. This service was purchased as a birthday gift for my spouse, and the fact that he did not enjoy it was both disappointing and embarrassing. When we went to the sauna, we were told we would have 15 minutes. However, the environment was quiet, uncomfortable, and very awkward. All we could hear was people talking loudly outside the door, which made the experience unpleasant, and we chose to leave early. We were also instructed to wear robes and slippers that smelled strongly as though they had not been cleaned, which was extremely unhygienic and disturbing. When we exited the facility, no one was at the front desk once again, there was no acknowledgment, no goodbye, and no attempt at customer care. I later attempted to contact the business by phone during business hours, and my call went unanswered. Overall, this was the worst experience we have ever had at your establishment. It is clear that the quality and professionalism have significantly declined since our last visit. Because of this experience, we will not be returning. After calling the office I was told to email the owners for a refund and they do not get back to you at all. I do not recommend going here at all. The therapists are very gross and unprofessional.
I had a great experience. T was a phenomenal massage therapist. Really knew how to work out my shoulders and neck tension. I also got a facial. But I forgot her name. But my skin is so smooth and clean now. They both stayed late to accommodate me. Really high quality customer service. If I lived here I’d be back regularly. Loved it!
Unfortunately, this experience was extremely disappointing and avoidable. We purchased a Groupon for a couple’s massage, but it turned out to be the wrong Groupon for the service we intended to book. The spa required us to redeem the Groupon before even scheduling the appointment, which is highly unusual and problematic. Once it was redeemed, we were informed that because it was the “wrong” Groupon, nothing could be done no credit, no option to pay the difference, no reconciliation of any kind. Groupon also will not issue a refund once a voucher is redeemed, leaving us with no appointment and no resolution. As someone who manages a medical spa, I can confidently say that best practice is to verify the Groupon first and redeem it at the time of service, not prior. This situation could have easily been avoided with proper checks or basic flexibility. Requiring early redemption and a card on file, with zero willingness to help when an honest mistake occurs, reflects poor customer service and inflexible policies. I would not recommend this spa based on this experience.
Maegan was absolutely amazing! She did my dermaplaning and facial, and the whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. She was gentle, thorough, and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. My skin has never felt smoother or looked more radiant. Maegan is professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about her clients. Highly recommend her!
Ariana & Debbie were excellent! I only wish it was longer. I am looking right now at booking the service again for the 80 minutes & another service for appointment for facials! I booked the couples massage for 50 minutes & it was wonderful. My boyfriend & I had a lovely experience & will come back again! The spa was clean, staff was welcoming & the overall experience was amazing! The time in the infrared sauna was also quite nice. I definitely recommend Essentials Day Spa of St. Pete.
