La Galerie St-Laurent + Hill - Ottawa Art Gallery est une petite galerie accueillante située dans le quartier du ByWard Market, sur la Rue Dalhousie. Elle présente un mélange éclectique de peintures, photographies, collages et sculptures, incluant des œuvres d'artistes résidents. Galerie St-Laurent+Hill has been my go-to gallery for years. It is the only gallery with staying power in town, and the only gallery that I trust. The team at Galerie St-Laurent+Hill is not only very knowledgeable about art in general, specific pieces that are showcased in particular, as well as the individual artists represented, they are in tune with customer needs, and will go out of their way to keep you as a satisfied regular client. In addition to Jody with whom I have developed a great professional relationship over the years, Lauren has proven to be a valuable newer asset. The team is honest and authentic. They will never push a sale. What more can one ask for in a gallery? I, for one, am not planning to go anywhere else.
Small ground floor gallery in Byward market on Dalhousie street with resident artists as well as assortment of various paintings and a few sculptures. Due to artist copy right concerns, no photos of their art work will be photo here. Their collection can be eclectic but if you are like me, you bound to find a few works that speak to you. Staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable as I inquired about a few of the paintings that were of interest to me. They were able to recount the artists focus and intentions of the paintings and some less notable details that only curateurs would know. I do recommend walk further than the main gallery and go the back and behind the separating wall. There are more art pieces with diverse styles and genre that may tickle your interest. Lovely.
Hands down, this is by far and away the best private gallery in Ottawa. The owner, Pierre-Luc Saint Laurent, has always had an extremely good eye for exceptional artwork. I like the artists he represents and his curatorial skills have kept his exhibitions on the "must see" agenda of serious collectors for decades.
