I went with a group of 6 at 11:00 on a weekend, made a reservation ahead of time. Immediately upon getting to our table we were swarmed with carts to ensure we got a selection of every item. The xiaolongbao and shumai was delicious.
Huge and beautiful restaurant with expansive menu. Food was excellent but what I really have to comment on is the outstanding and attentive service. I could barely put down a shell or bone when the servers would flip my plate for a clean one. Especially enjoyed the steam Coral Cod ($$$) and Ginger and Scallion Lobster over noodles. Really well done!
Went to the restaurant at Tuesday night. There were only a few table guests. The ribs was tender and good but a bit sweet to my taste. The pig knuckles is 爽脆白云猪手. Which is supposed to be marinated with rice vinegar. However, it didn’t taste sour and sweet at all. So the Chinese name is misleading. Also ordered braised Chilean sea bass, didn’t taste fresh. It was with red coloring, which same as the sweet & sour pork ribs w/fresh pineapple. I don’t like food color and sweetness personally.
It's really huge... It was a giant Chinese restaurant with a banquet hall. They caught live king crabs. In fact, there were many crabs in the aquarium, and they gave us a choice, but they didn't catch the king crabs themselves. Ha.. Anyway, they brought king crab, showed it to us, cooked it right away, and brought it to us. Not all the legs were cooked evenly, but they were fresh, so I enjoyed them. Because the meal is really huge, I recommend that at least eight people go to together. The price of king crab is calculated at the market price and they didn't charge corkage for two bottle of wines. I recommend it because it's a place worth visiting at least once.
My family & I visit this gorgeous restaurant with amazing service at least 5-6x a year. It’s a slight trek for us coming from South SJ but it’s totally worth it every time. Their food is absolutely scrumptious & their prices are very reasonable. It’s by far our fave dim sum spot in the Bay Area. Can’t recommend Grand Dynasty enough!
