I have been a Guitar Center customer for over 18 years, with 10 of those years at the La Mesa location. This is by far the best Guitar Center store I have ever visited. The layout is inviting, and most of the staff are great to work with. I want to give special thanks to Xander for helping me find the perfect amp and cabinet combination for my style and sound preferences. Overall, I had an outstanding customer service experience with Xander, Dave, Jake, and Norman. I am very happy with my purchase and look forward to returning to this store for many more years to come! -Frank T.
The Guitar Center in Grossmont Center is one of the biggest I’ve ever been to. Their selection of musical instruments is mind-blowing. I’ve bought gear here to support my piano and violin YouTube channels. PA speakers, XLR cables, keyboard stands are available. They have it all. Granted, they don’t carry violins, but that’s another story. As a beginning pianist and violinist, I enjoy the options and variety they offer. The sound of people testing guitars and keyboards always hits my sensory side as a thriller author. The rhythm and ambient noise remind me of scenes I write in my Grant Colson series, contained chaos that works with rhythm and planning, just like music. No surprise, they have a massive selection of guitars, from multi-thousand-dollar advanced models to beginner options that are much more price-friendly. I love the keyboard section because it let me try different models before choosing the one I eventually bought here. The staff are always super helpful and friendly. There’s hardly a musical question I haven’t found an answer to. There’s plenty of parking, even with the store’s size. The expanded lot makes it easy to load up if you’re outfitting your entire band. Can’t recommend this place enough.
Poor service. Associates were unwelcoming and hostile to questions and requests for help. One associate would not unlock guitars unless committing to buying one, and argued with me about it for no reason. This store has awesome gear and I love coming here by myself when I have free time. It's a far drive from LA County but it's always been worth the trip. This last experience will make me question my desire to shop at this Guitar Center in the future.
I went to the Guitar Center a few months ago to buy a keyboard and stand. The salesperson was extremely knowledgeable and professional, with good customer service. I then went back to the Guitar Center on September 14, to sell my keyboard back as I needed emergency funds. The lady that assisted me was amazing, she had great customer service, even though they were extremely busy and she was swamped. The only part of my experience is that I did not like that they only paid me 52.8% of the purchase price on my keyboard ... which was still in the box, and had never been used. Additionally, they did not buy the stand back. I blame it on the algorithm. They just punch the item into the computer, and it spits out a price. The computer has no idea of the condition of the instrument you're selling. I felt like I had been ripped off by a pawn shop. So, I would shop at the Guitar Store for an instrument because they have a huge selection, and great customer service, but I will never sell an instrument to them. All in all, 3.5 stars out of 5.
I've been coming to this guitar center for some time now, and i must say, they have it well deserved, this is a great store, they let you play all the instruments, they're knowledgeable and they have pretty decent prices. 5 star establishment. PS: no playing stairway to heaven.
