Our son has been attending Idaho Music Academy for over three years, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. From the very beginning, we were impressed by the professionalism and care shown by Miss Luann. Miss Luann, is an exceptional teacher and a wonderful person. She combines strong technical expertise with a passion for teaching, bringing out the best in every student. She teaches with great attention to detail, especially when preparing for festivals, and it has made a significant difference—our son has been very successful in his festival participations thanks to her guidance. The recitals are always beautifully organized, showcasing not only the students' talent but also the hard work that goes into each performance. Every student is so well-prepared, and it’s clear how much thought and dedication are behind their progress. If you have a smart kid and are looking for a great teacher, this is the place to be. Idaho Music Academy offers a highly professional environment that fosters technical skills, creativity, and a true love for music. We are incredibly grateful to be part of this community and highly recommend it to anyone looking for top-tier musical education.
My daughter was taking violin lessons here for about a year and really enjoyed it. However, recently her teacher dropped her as a student without any explanation and did not communicate with the parents. Prior to this, I had recommended them to several of my friends who had children interested in learning to play violin but sadly I will no longer recommend this as a reliable place for music education. In addition, while I was paying full tuition for 30 min lessons, my daughter’s time slot was often cut short while others got longer times. I hope the owners work on their professionalism for current and future students.
We had lessons here for a few months and here are the pros and cons. Pros: heavy emphasis on posture, technique and practicing. If you want your child to play the piano correctly and for their skills to consistently grow, this will be a great spot for your needs. I think this studio would be great for children who are ahead of the curve in behavior and have a high level of parental involvement. This teaching style is great for students who are eager to please and have a natural aptitude for music. Cons: parent and child will both be chastised if you don’t meet expectations for consistent technique and practice. Each week, we would find that we had erred in some way with the instructions and were often met with cold, stares as to why we didn’t complete each task at 100%. Old-school, authoritarian teaching style that made me and my kids dread lessons each week. As a professional musician, I hear stories from adults who wished they would have stuck with piano as a child, my belief is teaching styles like this shut down the younger learner.
This place is absolutely amazing. My son has been going for just over 6 months and the lessons have been instrumental (😂 dad joke) in his progress with the violin.
It's always fun to jam out, but it's even more fun to jam out at the Idaho music academy! Great facility very clean, lots of varieties and practice rooms, and just overall good fun.
