I am writing this review on behalf of my mother and I truly hope the owner recognizes the accountability of her associates working at her establishment. My mother was beyond excited to visit this black owned business as it has been recommended to her for years by several family members and friend's but she never really felt like she had the occasion in her life to shop there. She planned her visit last Saturday on 12/13 and as mentioned was so excited that she was outside waiting upon opening and to mention her and my daughter even helped the associate open the door, put the rug out as well as the board outside the door to help the women who was clearly struggling with this task. My mother was shopping for our church’s 50th anniversary gala and wanted something original and a different look outside of her normal church attire. While the associates were gracious enough to pull several pieces for her they neglected to mention sale racks and essentially just bought their “favorites” to my mother. They eventually pulled a beautiful black dress with a statement bottom piece that while my mother did love she felt though that it was a little big especially in her top frame. The associates of course reassured her to get the sale that it was not big and advised her of ways to roll up the sleeves and apparently in Ida’s “it doesn’t matter what the tag says it’s your size” which it clearly was not the case for my mother. When I saw the dress I immediately let her know the dress was huge on her and did absolutely nothing to flatter her frame. I have seen my mother in way more flattering dresses and as well as more than less than half of the cost of this dress! My mother called on Monday morning right upon opening to inquire about the return policy to which the associate that answered the phone confidently 5 days you are more than welcome to return for a full refund. My mother responded that she would be there the next day Tuesday 12/16, upon entering my mother explained her situation and would like to return the dress to which the attitude of the two associates mind you the same ones who worked the Saturday before quickly changed. The said absolutely no one would say that she could return the dress and they have no idea who she spoke to. My mother did not want to go back and forth about the situation and just advised she would exchange the dress. The associates paid her absolutely no attention during this time as they did just two days before and just focused both on one single customer in the store. No help no suggestions of items just left my mother to wander the store and to add more insult to her experience literally steamed the dress she had not even returned yet and had the other customer try it on right there in front of her and sold it to her. How outrageous is this for this type of business, no let’s figure this out how can we make this work, let’s add a belt maybe jewelry or anything to assist my mother! just let’s sell this dress and move on. My mother of course ended up exchanging the dress as she had no choice and no other dress now to even go back to if she wanted, but she is happy with her exchange choices that she picked out on her own. To be clear she will never visit this boutique again and is extremely disappointed with her treatment and lack of customer service! Take this review into account all future customers of this store.
I had a great shopping experience! The staff were so helpful and kind and the merchandise was varied and all of it beautifully unique and of top quality . I will certainly be coming back!
This place is owned by two angels. Even if you don’t go in there to shop, you can still have your day made by the women in there. If I didn’t live so far away I’d visit every day
My mom and I stopped into Ida's on a whim, hoping to find a dress I could wear to my backyard wedding. The ladies in there were so welcoming and helpful. They let me browse and also picked a couple things out for me to try. The quality of all the clothing is incredible and every piece was amazing. They all cheered me on as I tried on each dress. I ended up with 2 beautiful dresses and an experience I'll never forget. Thank you all so much. I can't wait to come back with pictures! - Sam and Laura
