Currently sitting in the ER department. In a room in the middle of winter the room is 62 degrees me and my child are freezing. Asked two nurses walking by and pushed the call light for them to turn up the heat because the thermometer is locked or if we can get some blankets over an hour ago and got nothing. Our nurse hasn't checked on us for over an hour. I wish the salt lake valley had better options for childrens hospitals.
Obviously no one wants their child or children to have medical issues but when they do, having an exemplary children's hospital available is paramount. We've seen most every discipline in the hospital and have been quite pleased. Did we have the off doctor to patient experience, sure, but that happens with adult medicine as well and we were able to switch to a compatable situation fairly easily. The buildings are now designed with more dedicated purposes such as the inpatient hospital and the outpatient building, offering more in-depth care and greater number of patients being served on the campus at the same time. If you're sticking around all day or multiple days the cafe in the outpatient building is a great food option as well as the inpatient cafeteria, to mix up your nutritional needs being met. We do have experience with another children's hospital on the East Coast and we were thrilled with the care our child received there, but we're eager to return to the far more personable Primary Children's. All in all, I hope your kids stay safe and well, but if you need it, this is an absolute blessing in a difficult situation.
I brought my five-week-old son to the emergency department on Sunday due to a rash and concerns about respiratory distress. His pediatrician was closed, and no urgent care would see him at his age. I expressed my concerns to the resident, noting a possible milk allergy and issues with breathing and oxygen. The resident dismissed my concerns, attributing his symptoms to baby acne and colic. When Dr. Nicklaus Robinson evaluated him, he largely echoed the resident’s assessment. I explained that my son cried inconsolably for up to eight hours a day—behavior inconsistent with colic—but my concerns were not taken seriously. My husband even asked if it could be a gastrointestinal issue, and we were told it was not. The next day, his pediatrician tested his stool, which showed blood and mucus, confirming the rash was allergy-related. This experience highlights the importance of advocating for your child and not accepting easy answers. Parents know their children best, and concerns about young, vulnerable patients must be taken seriously. I am giving three stars because, in the past, I have had excellent experiences at this institution, and other staff members have been attentive and helpful. However, this visit was disappointing and serves as a reminder that dismissing parental concerns can have serious consequences
This hospital saved my daughter’s life two times. She has open heart surgery at 4 days old&the doctors did a excellent job& always keep me feeling claim&always made sure I know what was going on medically&that I 100% understood it all. The whole month stay was a great experience due to the incredible staff&docters. She ended up being care flighted from Humboldt general hospital in winnemucca nv due to the flu etc. by the time we got there she was on the urg of death because she her oxygen was so low. They instantly ran every test they could & got to the bottom of what was happening. She then had to be intubated where she crashed 3 times & her heart stopped.. the amazing team got her back 3 times&saved my little girls life. We then had a 2 month stay where they continued to do amazing things for my girl & got her back to her normal happy healthy 3 year old. This hospital truly is a god sent& can’t thank them enough for everything they have done/ continue to do for our family. Highly recommend this hospital to anyone!
Fantastic. The entire staff in every area of this place are nice, helpful and go out of the way to help. The security guards, nurses and all others are helpful and very kind. There are very nice meals prepared at the Cafe for a fair price. Patient rooms are great. Thanks all
