International Museum of Art est situé au 1211 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79902. Le bâtiment conçu par Trost abrite des œuvres variées, allant d’œuvres africaines et du Moyen-Orient à des reliques de la Révolution mexicaine, dans une salle du sous-sol. La famille Turney est propriétaire du bien. Les visiteurs louent le personnel sympathique, des visites guidées par des médiateurs passionnés et perspicaces, et une excellente mise en valeur des œuvres. Very easy access. Free parking in the parking lot attached to the building. The museum director was at the desk when we arrived and was very kind. She explained that they were transitioning a few galleries and gave us suggestions on where to start. The museum isn't gigantic but it had some beautiful work inside it. I was impressed by the curation.
My son and I have been enjoying every reception for art exhibits for a few years now. In addition, the museum organizes special events for members. Every event outshines the previous one. As members we are very proud to support a venue that celebrates, appreciates and encourages artists to showcase their work. Every exhibit is unique and exciting. I hope more local people support the efforts of the staff. Admission is free but feel free to donate whatever you can. There is a big plastic box when you can deposit your donation. The upcoming exhibit, The Sun Bowl Exhibit, is coming soon in October. Do not miss it.
I had not been here in years. I was pleasantly surprised by the outstanding African and Middle East exhibit. The "Hacienda room" downstairs feels like you've walked in on the Mexican Revolution. We also came on an afternoon with a local artist member showcase and were impressed by the talent on display. A must see, this Trost designed building is in itself a gem!
I had a lovely visit at the historic International Museum of Art. The docent and front desk staff were friendly. The docent Emily gave a great tour of the museum, replete with much information, especially its historical significance for El Paso. It is a beautiful structure.
It's in fact a historical site which the property was and is owned by the Turney family. The building itself is an antique, and the whole building is full of antiques, except the themed artworks exhibited from time to time, the interior design and decoration is worth spending time appreciating the details. There's a hall at the basement in which you will find the historical relics of the Mexican Revolution and some key moments of Puncho Villa. Some Chinese and Indian paintings and wooden crafts will make me realize the variety of the collections of the Turney family.
