This gym is constantly overcrowded. You almost always have to wait 5–10 minutes to use a machine, especially between 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm. It genuinely feels like the gym is operating beyond a safe capacity for its size. Many machines are frequently broken or out of order, which only makes the overcrowding problem worse. The facilities are clearly worn down. Bathrooms are poorly maintained, and the pool area also looks old and neglected. However, the worst issue by far is the smell. The gym smells extremely bad consistently and overwhelmingly so. It’s not occasional; it’s constant, and it makes workouts very unpleasant. On top of that, there is no control over gym etiquette. Many members selfishly use two or even three machines at the same time, and staff does nothing to address this behavior. Overall, this gym needs serious improvements in maintenance, cleanliness, crowd control, and staff oversight.
Been told this gym was supposed to be updated and potentially move to 24/7. It's been years since that. Smells like weed, piss, bo, and like someone died all in one cocktail. A lot of people act like they own the sauna between random loud moaning, push ups, jumping jacks, rapping, putting a towel over the sensor etc etc. (they need to start cancelling memberships and people would stop pretty quick). Gyms always packed. The equipment is always broken. I would bet 75% of the equipment including cardio is broken or needs some form of repair. After 9PM it becomes who hasn't committed a felony atmosphere. This gym used to be the place to go and most of the regulars are going elsewhere. The clientele especially at night has gotten shady. Its not super often but it was at one point the "influencers" recording themselves, being rude/loud, and taking their clothes off waddling around. People at night bring radios and blast their own music (happens less that it used too at least recently) Since the gym owners don't seem to care neither do most of the members
I signed up for personal training with Cody who was AMAZING! After two+ months of working with Cody, he was let go without notice. I proceeded with personal training and over the course of the next 2-3 months, I had 3 different trainers that failed to show up on time or at all, poor communication for scheduling, and did not plan my work outs based on my goals or feedback. I canceled my personal training and lost out on almost 20 paid for sessions. Very poor customer focus & high employee turnover REALLY says something about this gym, its owners, and management.
I was an LA Fitness member for years when I lived in Columbus, so it was disappointing to return and have such a poor experience driven by a rigid, shortsighted policy. I booked the free three-day trial online, but when I arrived I was told I needed a local ID--a requirement I never confirmed during booking. As a result, I was denied both the trial and a week pass and offered only a $20 day pass. To make matters worse, this location doesn't even provide towels for the showers. It's hard to justify the pricing when the amenities don't match. By contrast, The Athletic Cos (Italian Village) offered a free one-day trial and a week pass for $35, making the experience far more welcoming and reasonably priced.
The management of this gym has gone consistently downhill, especially recently. The AC has been broken for months with no timeline for resolution (maybe they turned it off on purpose??) The gym is completely overcrowded… and knowing this, they insist on taking away the separate workout area downstairs as it’s “only for personal training”... I have been apart of several gyms in my lifetime, and have never seen a complete workout area taken away for ONE ON ONE personal training..... maybe for a group class... but these clowns go in there for 1on1 training and insist it has to be closed off to everyone else at ALL times. The machines are also constantly broken (see photo attached)…. Taking weeks/sometimes months to ever be repaired. If not for its convenient location and somewhat cheap (although increasing) price, it would be out of business
