If you're reading this the morning of Jan. 9 the breakfast hand pies are undercooked. I have been enjoying coffees here for a couple years now. Normally I would give 5 stars in all areas. Today the coffee is still 5 star. Along with the coffee I purchased a breakfast hand pie to go. 10 minutes later I picked it up to eat it wanted to fall apart. When I bit into it I discovered the reason. It was undercooked. I returned and showed the under cooked pie crust to the girl at the counter and got all kinds of excuses i.e. "it has a lot of butter, it is supposed to be soft, it was heated in a microwave, etc". There were other customers at the counter, so rather than argue I left. I added 10 minutes of cooking time when I got home and it was delicious.
I kept hearing about this place through their cake building workshop and decided I would try it for the beverages. Last Tuesday I was greeted with a warm welcome upon entering the shop and informed them it was my first time there, they were so patiently waiting while I figured out what I wanted and even suggested a couple of their new items on the Holiday Menu. I ordered an Iced Banana Bread Chai Latte w/ oat milk and the first sip was euphoric. I have no idea how I made it to my destination without drinking it all, it was so yummy! Anyone who is looking for a cute and chíc coffee spot nestled in the heart of Broken Arrow should absolutely make a stop at Laurannae! I will absolutely be returning and with more customers! ♥️
This little bakery is phenomenal! It has a super chic and cute atmosphere with a modern, open and bright feel. I love the high ceilings with the clean, white and modern feel but the warm tones of the wood makes it feel inviting and homey. There is plenty of seating - either outside or inside and free wifi. I saw a couple people with laptops for studying or working - this is the perfect atmosphere for these activities. The coffee was very good but the baked goods are the highlight! We ordered the lemon poppyseed coffee cake, buttery croissant and lemon creme Danish. All portions are giant and so delicious! The prices are very affordable for the quality and experience. Expect a wait because this pop lace is very popular!
Mrs. Flip Out went to Laurannae with a friend, and judging by the line, it was quite a local favorite. However, it proved to be worth the wait in their opinion. Everything in the pastry case looked delicious and there were a few gluten free options. Mrs. Flip Out had an iced blueberry matcha latte and tried the gluten free lemon poppyseed coffee cake. The drink was good, but the coffee cake was amazing. Many gluten free options are usually on the dry or bland side, but she said this coffee cake had great flavor and texture. There was seating inside and out with another drink stand outside, Eleanor Sips. The patio area had some outdoor games and swings for all ages.
I have to say that I'm extremely picky with desserts, and finding Laurannae was an awesome surprise. At first, when I entered, I felt like I was back in Manhattan (NY) in one of the fancy bakeries... so I was afraid that it was just looks but nothing tasting good... I have a sweet tooth, so I bought 7 different things... EVERYTHING (but 1 thing) was delicious. The Danish was soft and tasty, the almond croissant yummy, and the cupcakes wow the strawberry was my favorite, but the vanilla and bridal cake were delicious too. I normally (and sadly) can taste the box/premix flavor in most of the pastries... but not in Laurannae! Every taste is amazing and homemade but luxurious on the exterior. I am definitely getting my birthday cake and visiting very often now that I find them. I only have 2 tips I would like to share... first, in those bakeries I was referring to, when they keep everything in the fridge but warm them before serving it, if you take to go, they give you instructions on how to warm it, or how long to keep it in a room temperature so you enjoy it even better. And second, I witnessed how the girl that was in the register used her finger to stand a piece of cheesecake that had fallen on its side. In general, she didn't use any kind of glove, paper or tongs to grab, move or place around or in the box any of the pastries. So I would recommend to please use something so the people handling the food is not touching it with their bare hands... I know it is a busy place, but it is just hygiene :)
