I feel so lucky to have discovered Jen and the team at Looking Glass. I was so daunted to come back to photography after a long absence, but I used Looking Glass's Outfitter service to start, and that helped me figure out what I needed. I was able to buy everything there at a fair price, and they helped me think through the options for each choice. I even took a couple of lessons to help me restart quickly in advance of a big trip. I cannot recommend Looking Glass more highly!
Knowledgeable staff and pricey cameras. Lessons and outfitting offered starting around $120 per hour
Their films are fair price. An old man was helping me but he was clearly sick and didn’t even wear a mask, I think he should be resting not working…the other two staff were staring at me which makes me uncomfortable. After I bought my films, I was looking around and then again, the guy who was helping me was also staring at me. It is really weird…
I visited Looking Glass photo to get some help with my Canon 90D that wasn’t fully functioning properly. I dropped off my camera with Kevin and it’s great that they do a thorough check of what’s being turned in with the camera so both parities have an understanding and documentation of what’s being turned in. Kevin provided a great service and in general they beat their expected timing of getting the camera back to me. It only took them a couple of days.
There is currently no store. I hate to give someone a review for this - but as with anyone having to drive in California - it would be nice to know they don’t have a storefront right now before driving all the way here 30+ minutes away. Someone drove a car through their building and stole a bunch of things causing this store to be closed for browsing. This is very sad for locally owned businesses and one more reason the Bay Area really needs to get it together. But don’t waste your time going here because you can’t look at cameras. They just have a bar/desk open which isn’t very helpful. Sorry to hear about your business but people who have to drive to get places in CA traffic need to know this.
